Hi all,

Just a few words of encouragement...

Not long ago, I would have been counted amongst the many people on this site who were becoming bored and frustrated having not met anyone special.

Browsing through the forums, I've seen plenty of complaints from people about people never replying, scams and awful pick-up techniques that would put almost anyone off... But I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that there is hope.

4 months ago I met a wonderful man through this site. We went through the usual motions of email tennis but instead of fizzling out like a lot of conversations do, We went out on a date and the rest is history! It's developed into a pretty great relationship.

Admittedly 4 months is not a long time and it's early days yet but even if it were to all fall apart tomorrow, It has served as proof to me at least that occasionally meaningful, loving relationships can come out of this minefield that is online dating if you give it a chance.

Who knows what the future holds? I have no clue, but I look forward to finding out.

Don't lose hope! There's someone out there for everyone and you never know might email you tomorrow!

Names like Crippen, West, Bundy, Lecter, Manson, Shipman and Ripper immediately spring to mind... can't wait!!!

I suspect there are many more success stories, but they are all too busy doing things to come back and tell us. And that’s as it should be!
Like you, I believe there is someone for everybody and we have to get out and find them – or get into Flirtbox (or other dating sites) and find them.

Ive been using dating sites for years but never even had a nible lol. All ive ever had is scammers. been on facebook for about 4 years and cant even find 1 friend to chat to me on there. Only got 2 freinds on there but they have never spoken to me. Most chat sites have a competion on who can have the most friends lol. They dont want to chat just get as many friends as they can. Every free dating site i join starts charging after a few weeks. the 1 i just left started charging men but still free to women. Cant even read ur msgs without paying for it as i found out. Finally got my 1st msg only to find i had to pay to read it. No warning they were going to start charging though. Hopefully ill have better luck here.

There's plenty of serial killers using anabolic steroids, so strength-to-strength is no doubt a fact in this 'date-a-female-psycho' arena - at least, I've found it so (and I met a female body-builder the other year from the Net who's voice was actually deeper than mine was - that made me pull my socks up I can tell you)! That's why I now wear a stab-proof vest if I offer to meet someone, and we won't get onto the one who tried to run me over in a services car park when I wouldn't bow to love within 45 seconds of meeting, nor the other 2 who put me in hospital! Oh, it's such fun being a creative... you attract all the ones with serious serious mental issues, as yet unresolved... but it makes for good material though, so long as the encounter is survived...

But in all seriousness, Even for cynics such as yourself, I hope you don't give up. There are plenty of people in the same boat as you. I've survived long enough to write this post so I'm gonna hazard a guess and assume that my fella's not a mass murderer... lol.

I've met my fair share of nutcases online too. Comes with the territory I suppose... but you consider yourself sane, right? So if you're here, it's reasonable to expect that there's a few other nice individuals out there in cyber space... We're not all trying to run you over in carparks... lol

Serial killers are determined and persistent, so yes, i agree...!

These sites do work in a minority of cases, if you can cut through the shallowness, fickleness and people start thinking and acting realistically. There's probably not enough local meeting going on..were possible

But would work much better, if there was an influx of women on these sites, make things more even
