Forget the bullshit and platitudes mate, with most people age does matter. Until they meet someone that changes their views. But on the whole age does matter.

I've seen a lot of hypocrisy on this matter on Internet message boards. some people have short memories and forget what they post previously Laughing

I've dated people quite a lot older and quite a lot younger than me. I agree with Jegs that a lot of the "age is just a number" stuff is just balls that people spout without even thinking. If you're just out for a shag or a more casual sort of relationship then big age differences don't matter so much. However, if you want something more meaningful and long term then that's a different kettle of fish. Think about a 30 year old (male or female) dating a 50 year old. How's that 30 year old going to feel in twenty years when they are still quite young with loads of good years left, and their partner is a doddering 70 year old fart wearing incontinence pants. You can bet age is going to matter then.

To be fair mate, I doubt two people of 30 will be together 20 years nowadays, so a big age difference even less chance they will. Unless the bloke is rich Laughing *Jeggs ducks from the flack*

Of course there are always exceptions.

That's a fair point, unfortunately.

Two family friends of ours just got engaged. The woman is 40 and the man is 63.

Cliches, platitudes and common or uncommon sense aside. The two of them have never been happier.

Its your life, its up to you who you share it with.

I don't know jeggae -- it seems many people at 30 have already realized and ended their first big relationship mistake and now have a much better idea of what will make them happy (and unhappy), allowing them to look more effectively for the former and avoid the latter.

Of course you are right mate, but 20 years is a long time in a relationship nowadays..1 year is a long time Laughing The majority of people dont want to work at it, it seems to me.

But as I said there are always exceptions.

Age doesn't seem to matter most of the time but it's a very different thing when LOVE comes into a relationship. Then the practicalities of what that could mean if a long term future was being considered have to be addressed.
