Well I've been a member only a matter of hours..
I am cynical of this online dating malarky tbh, but have an open mind and if it does work.. fantastic.. what a great way to meet people if you have a busy schedule. If it doesn't, well nothing lost except some major dreams & aspirations.. ' OH MY GOD!! PLEASE WORK!!' sniff!
No I haven't had any emails yet.. (i'll check again in 10 seconds!!) but thought may be worth mentioning that on my settings receive emails was set to 'from men only' as default.. about as useful as a hole in the head! might be worth checking yours.. settings that is.. not head.
I haven't looked through other forum topics as yet.. so this idea may already be up & running.. how about a feedback on profiles topic? prob work best if only given on request.. I request!! be nice, be gentle tho.. don't tell me ewwww! it's stupid and what's that goddamn pic about!! say hmmm.. might need a bit of work! lol or even just a rating out of 10 might help.. I don't mean about the attractiveness of the person btw. just the quality of the profile.
just my ha'pennies worth.. cheerio!

Ok, not had any mails yet, been a member a few weeks. I'm generally a pleasant guy to get on with, so what's the problem? I put a lot on my profile in the hope that more women would see more of me than just my appearance. Although, it is hard to find a women I can talk to about the things I am interested in (pure mathematics for example), but I persevere, and hopefully one day someone will send me a message, or at least take a vague interest in me (that at least is a start).

Don't leave it up to us guys to do all the messaging, we like to be asked too you know.

I tend not to pm a guy if he's already checked out mine I figure he didn't like what he saw/read. But then I also think "maybe he's hoping I'll notice he noticed me, and that I will make the first move?"
I've done that a few times and not got a reply, so I guess my first thought was correct!
I get quite alot that just say "hi" and their profiles give nothing to expand upon.
T'is difficult.
I think posting on the forums helps people decide whether you are someone they want to get to know better too.

To be brutally honest I gave up sending emails on Flirtbox and other websites. The feeling of wasting your time when you see that your email has been read and no reply is overwhelming.
In fact I found that once in a blue moon I actually got sent an email or two! In fact Ive met two good friends on Flirtbox and noticed someone I knew had a profile on here but I had overlooked it somehow!
So maybe yes you might not get anything and yes it is depressing but I found two people who became good friends and the person who had a profile, well we had a few dates and then went our own seperate ways. Maybe we are expecting to find someone there and then but sometimes waiting around and a wee bit of rejection makes you appreciate what you find one day when your not even looking.

I've had the odd message here and there - really though, the key is not to expect anything. Hundreds of people may pass by and check out your profile, but only a handful may think: "Ooo, they look cool." Just be patient and keep your eyes open, you may well happen upon someone great and be tempted to send a message yourself. And who knows, they might even write back.
