Maybe people should approach this site in that way - i.e. if you wouldn't say it to a woman in a pub or out somewhere, don't say it at all. But then not everyone thinks like the decent folk on this forum

You have an environment where...


The socially inept come to date.

People come to look exclusively for sex.

The men outnumber the women 2:1.

It is completely faceless.

People give scant information about themselves.

People's expectations of others are way too high.


...So why does any message come as a shock, or even offend? These people don't know you personally, and after one message without a response they will probably disappear back into the ether. It's no different from going to a club and having some knuckle-dragger try it on with you. Actually no, thats not true, on here you don't have to worry about said knuckle-dragger retaliating to their spurned advances by fucking you in a sleeper hold behind a bottlebank at chucking out time. So really, this place is quite harmless.

I'm not condoning what they're doing here. I'm merely pointing out that in the grand scheme of things they're neither unusual or particularly life threatening. So rather than play the 'LOL ALL MEN R CUNTS YEH' card (which seems to be a recurring theme on here), just laugh them off, hit delete and ignore, and sleep safe. The nasty man hasn't digitally raped you down the internets. He's just doing what he knows best, which is probably why he's signed up to a dating site in the first place.

It's a nasty old world out there for sure, but on here theres a monitor and a healthy amount of phone cable between you and 'dAtErApE69'. If you're going to get your pitchforks and torches together at least find a more worthwhile cause.
