Its an amazing factor that women prefer pubs or restaurants to feel relaxed.I feel relaxed with a beautiful woman who has a beaming personality and likes a chat from a stranger.Food or drink makes ppl feel obliged to be nice.I feel that a casual meeting at a park or a place of interest would be more appropriate to discover ones personality in the sober form

I think its to do with the atmosphere of a pub or club, you automatically enter into wind down mode, plus other people relaxing around you encourages you to do the same. I guess its just the setting that switches the 'on' button in people to relax.

As for walks in the park and chance encounters, i know what you mean, they are rare but they are lovely as well.

My first date with one guy was at Doncaster. We went into the vintage race car museum there and wandered around. (I love vintage cars). We were then supposed to go onto Twycross zoo but got a bit lost and ended up at some radio/boot sale thing!! lol

But it was a great day out and found our way to the zoo for our 2nd date. Another great day out

I have the same views on this .... although i like pubs, clubs etc... i also like to get to know someone withought having to scream at the top of my voice to be heard and i do find meeting in a neutral place of common interest does help the convirsation.

The only problem with going to a pub', especially in places like Brum is you get an awful lot of idiots in there with you. I remember meeting this girl in a pub in Brum for a second date, this was at 3 in the afternoon (obviously) and I remember these blokes looking at us and staring at her breasts, smiling, smirking, trying to give her the eye and all that...not exactly a great date. One bloke even smiled at her as he went into the loo in a suggestive manner. So be warned, while pubs have a relaxed atmosphere...be prepared to deal with the pillocks UT

An advantage of meeting in a pub, easpecially for a first date, is that if things don't go so great between you and there are a few uncomfortable silences in the conversation; at least there are other distractions around you to stop you feeling too ill at ease!

Ewww! Its making me cringe thinking of sitting on a park bench somewhere, in silence not knowing quite what to say to someone you just met!

hang on though...isnt what these type of sites are meant to be for...getting an intial contact, then finding out about each other ie..getting to know that person..i believe by the time you actually meet them you should know enough about them to at least regard yourselfs as friends...And generally, meeting friends doesnt mean those awkward silences happen..
