The term 'Geek' is wrongly used to describe someone who is intelligent or knowledgeable, but for the purposes of this thread, I shall use the term too.

So when you look at it my way, what's not to love about our kind? We've an interest in learning new things, solving puzzles and finding answers to life's problems. Geeks built the world we live in and the technologies we use, afterall.

The general stereotype is that with all the things we've learnt, we've sorta forgotten to socialise a bit, and therefore don't seem to be quite as adept at talking to new people. But I think that's also wrong, for the most part. Everyone's different, at the end of the day.

Well, most of the day, actually. x_x

Telford, where I come from, is 99% chav, and yeah its all "innit" and "safe" and... Argh, just rubbish. Can't stand it. Unless you wear gold chains, have your pants around your ankles and have some crazy shape shaved into your head, you just don't attract anybody, which is fine in my book as I wouldn't really like the kind woman that would go for that man.

As for geekdom... Dude I'm a games designer/teacher, it doesn't get much more geekier that that, trust me. I find it does help matters though because it strikes up an odd conversation. Lots of people refer to me as "that guy who does..." rather than just one of the crowd, which is nice. So, to coin a phrase taken from the local idiots, "big up" yourself when out and see being in IT as a good thing. A stable job with good income in a sector thats in demand? What women doesn't want a guy who can offer that kind of security, right?

I like clever men so long as they don't treat me as stupid, I've just got my skills in a different direction. So long as a 'geek' is creative rather than text book, we'd get along fine.

there are several approaches to this question.

- some women have a fetish for geek men, i used to a while ago, especially for the ones who did like to wear rubber masks, and be dragged around on a leash and be spanked, thats just adorable!

- some women appreciate their skills (and here i am talking about the TRUE geeks, not the ones who are just lame and they confuse it or choose to believe they are rather geeky), for ex. some 10 years ago i got stuck at level 8 (?) of dungeon keeper 2 when i desperately needed a dark angel (although i had some black knights but those were no where near of course! ) and no matter how hard i kept sacrificing my creatures, the gods would only accept them without "donating" any angels, and my geeky bf at a time broke the code and i got 10 dark angels ready to bring the victory into my scary dungeon while i would watch the master of the dungeon come and collect the precious piece of the stone that would then enable me to break out of the underground etc, yes it was a remarkable day and i had tears in my eyes!

- again back to the sexual context of "the geek", generally geeks do not express their desires very openly , you can have a geek seating next to your desk all day quite without looking at your very short skirt, so its absolutely wonderful and challenging to make an effort, such as perhaps wearing some mindblowing stockings and asking the geek to help you with something at your desk while in the process accidently revealing a little bit extra and watching his reaction, normally they try to control themselves and blush and its just so sweet and charming. "Scientific fact" - when woman puts more effort through the process of trying to seduce someone, it generally leads to a more beautiful physical intimacy because the womans body is tendered and passionately awakened.

-some women greatly value the MODESTY in men, the humbleness, the subtle greatness, the "not taking the credit" the "enjoying the process rather than the result" and geeks tend to have these qualities.

i have plenty more, but perhaps next time , will keep this short Smile
