I'd like to know this too, I spend a lot of time on my pc and tinkering with hardware and stuff.

But when it comes to asking someone out I fail like a bird hitting a window.

Birds can't technically see windows, so they don't really fail. Nature just messed up their eyesight a lil bit.

But funnily enough I dont really have trouble asking girls out on dates, I just tend to pick the ones who have a.) had their head messed about by a guy lately and b.) get the good ole ambiguous maybe response.

Meditate, with the force, Will I this on...will...I fail at Yoda speak. (Note i'm deliberately unleashing the geek there...not quite what I would say to a lady I didnt know lol)

I think if you're a nice guy it really doesn't matter if you are a 'geek' or not.

my love for sci-fi (particulary star trek and firefly/x-files) has had differing effects on women - it has bored some and amazed others.

Hi,

I am a first class geek (Of the programming type).
The short answer is yes, its not that you are not suitable its that women tend to want an alpha male and rule out (sub-consciously) the rest. When you find the right woman who actually starts to get to know you your luck will change.

Dont worry, hold your head up high.

Good evening,

This thread just drew me here.

Anyways, I'm going to say yes (although no personal experience yet Embarassed )

But! I think that we must be really interesting to converse with?

Well I'd like to think I'm a quirky/odd geek. So generally I have more or less interesting things to talk about?

Perhaps????

Best Regards,

Glad i saw this thread now!

I am a geek of the highest order. Not even a smart, computer programing one, just a good old sci fi one!

I do have plenty of 'non geeky' hobbies too though.

I'm a geek too.

Been single most of my life, married once for a whole 5 years. Single again for the last 5 years with only a 6 month break from the dry spell two years ago. Pretty much resigned to living the rest of my life single now, given up trying for the most part.

Even my attempts at general conversation with a few women have been met with no replies, they don't even respond when you're being friendly and just want to chat with no strings.

I begin to wish I was a womanising neanderthal who's never done a days work in his life, I'd probably be married with kids, a house and a half decent car by now.

I also have the same problem, I am a computer technician (self employed) girls just ignore me.

My sense of humour is a little odd and I have geeky ways but I have lots of women friends, they just don't fancy me.
