I've always tried to avoid being labelled a geek, but if they're this popular then bring it on!

What do you know about computers, Lord of the rings, Counter strike or Star wars?

I found something so funny and sad that I died inside a little. A lad turned down his woman to play World of Warcraft.

Now I was addicted like many people, but I'd never turn down love to play a friggin game. Very Happy

Oh and if it helps I can program in QBasic, Assembler and know a few drabs of HTML. And yes, my PC is a dual boot system. And no, I havn't got round to setting up my SATA HDDs in RAID II. Its good old ATA 133 for me

I don't mind being called a geek by fellow geeks, but it gets my back up a little when I get labelled a geek by a non geek! Make any sense? I guess it's because the only person who falls into the latter type is my boss and it's normally used derogatorily when he's showing guests about.

My credentials? I'm in and got a degree in engineering, I code in Python, I've a number of linux machines, I always choose open office over M$ office, I'm off to a python conference in Birmingham soon (uber geek meet last year!), and I'm begining to screw around with Robot projects. I want a spider 'bot!

I have to balance the geek in me with a suitable number of saddle hours, learning my guitar, and rock gigs whenever I can... Laughing

Sounds great. Do you programme for certain things? Examples being some Youtube videos - one robot that walks like say a deer and when falling calculates how to put itself upright. It's amazing stuff, but very loud.
