| I studied software engineering at uni, run Linux at home and work in IT... but I really don't consider myself to be a geek, is that possible or do they automatically go hand in hand? |

Don't think anyone would describe me as a geek and I run a redhat flavour VPS and develop websites. I however, don't work in IT - maybe it's an IT thing _________________ I can't help it!

(the following should be taken with a pinch of salt, just incase my sense of humour doesnt go down well on here, i'm still pretty new to this!)
I am happy in my geekdome and I know women that are as geeky as me if not more so (if you can imagine such a thing). Not that i'm geekist in anyway i enjoy talking to non-geeks although to be fair its always much more fun meeting people who share similar interests.
Infact i would argue that geek is infact now becoming cool these days. Certainly while i was living in bradford/leeds all the cool kids could be found in the comic/gaming shops and people are a lot more willing to take steps beyond the traditional pastimes. I mean look at the amount of 'geek-chic' we see in todays bands, they love their big glasses and star wars, and whats not to love
anyway thats my take please feel free to agree/disagree/mock as you see fit! |

I love geeks. As longs as you're funny and are a great person, what does it matter? Maybe a wee bit of a generalisation; but I would say most geeks are also good at helping you with your PC problems. I demand an increase in the number of geeks in the UK and think they should have their own forum. |
