We truly are gods miracles...
I sometimes go off in a daydream whilst talking to boring people, think up some weird shit in my head and then start laughing...
02.11.2008, 22:55 quote
I generally say the weird shit. Then the boring person gets a little scared and goes away.

Got a similar thing with my elbow

| There are different kinds of boring, arent there? My dad used to tell us kids if we were bored it was because we were being boring....in other words, get off your lazy arse and do something constructive.
However, I find books on quantum physics and the history of Bosnia extremely boring because those subjects simply do not interest me. Ditto the washing up, hoovering, ironing etc! I've met some extremely sexy men who once I got talking with them found them to bore the arse off me, talking about subjects I had no interest in. So, I think the key to curing boredom is doing something that interests you, and of course, as Hannah has pointed out, you cant always do that. At the moment I am getting a tad bored because the things I usually do to pass the time are barred from me with this broken wrist at the moment. |
Alice i know how you feel being restricted with your wrist, when i did my leg and ankle last year i really wanted to carry on with archery and with horse riding and various other things ... these are things i love and still cant do now oz of my injury also affects me wanting to try new things as sometimes i am not able to ...
my mum used to say if you are bored its coz you are being boring ... i think its something mums and dads say to try and make you vanish off for a bit lol

Han, if you still have problems with your leg...this might sound daft but dont be put off....get in touch with organisations that do leisure activities for disabled people, like carriage driving, RDA, even archery can be just as fun sitting down!
What I used to do was volunteer as a helper, that way I got to do stuff and didnt feel like a 'disabled activities user' if you know what I mean.
A gammy leg shouldnt preclude you from doing stuff you enjoy, hook out my old thread in the dating section about things to do on a date...
My problem at the mo is that its my left wrist and I am left handed, and chipped a bit off the pointy end of my elbow and it hurts like hell still.

Swimming is very good for bad legs and I always try to start with exercise when I begin to feel bored.
In fact I find window shopping, searching high and low for something interesting without buying anything, is a good cure for boredom. By the time I finish I generally have worked out what would interest me and so I set about doing it.
I guess I'm lucky in that a lot of intellectual things interest me and a puzzle book can be sheer joy when I'm in the right mood. Why even some paper and pencils can means time "invested" drawing.
Also housework is a classic "order out of chaos" situation, although I'd probably draw the line at doing other people's in the nude ...

I don't get bored, too much going on in my life for that.
I have pool, plenty of good friends, Becky and if I am stuck I can come on here and annoy you lot.

Bugger. I was hoping you would offer.

He said probably - that's not technically a no. I'd see how much he thinks he's worth.

I am bored most of the time myself in the evenings even when on the computer.

There is loads of stuff to do if you are bored.
I'm tied to the computer at the moment because when I should have been doing work I was online (like now
03.11.2008, 16:11 quote
Well i suppose there are things to do like listening to music which can get you out of boredom on the computer or watching videos on youtube is not bad
03.11.2008, 16:22 quote
Put your coat on and go for a walk.
Or find an interesting book to read.
Or start going to evening classes.
Visit an elderly neighbor who is housebound, alone in this world and very very lonely.
To be bored once in a while is understandable and okay, but if you admit to being bored so often there is no real excuse, get off your lazy arse and do summat about it!!
