I'm thinking not using chat up lines would be more effective!

Like laura said,i try the most direct approach in saying hi to them.most of my mates smoke so they tend to ask for lights outside to break the ice,i dont smoke and tend to not go for women who do.

Yep I would go with that.

I have found that a simple do you mind if I sit here works and then just move into casual conversation.

'Can I borrow your library card? I wanna check you out!'

"The only thing your eyes haven't told me is your name."

"There must be something wrong with my eyes,
I can't take them off you."

Are we related? Do you want to be?

Do you come here often?

Chat up lines don't work. What works is good pick up routines. There are loads of example pick up routines on youtube you can watch. A routine consists of a simple opener and then rapport building and then escalation and finally closing where you go for contact details or try for an instant date.

An opener should not convey interest unlike a chat up line. An opener is designed to get the person talking with you. A good opener is something which makes the person feel almost compelled to answer you as most people will simply ignore comments from strangers.

So saying something that almost demands an answer like: "Excuse me but I just need some quick advice here....."

So Greystone, have pick up routines worked for you yet? you have been using them for quite some time now, you should have got a few dates by now eh?

Well like I said before I am too ugly to get dates. Incidently here is a new video about pick up routines by Richard a pick up expert from Zimbawe now living in London:

Chat up lines can and do work!
All you're trying to do is break the ice.
You can't expect someone to want to jump into bed with you as soon as the sentence ends.
All you're aiming for is to start a conversation!
Routines work too. Got a mate of mine who swears by all that "The Game" stuff. Not my Style though! (if you pardon the pun)

What's the rush with wanting to meet people in supermarkets and stuff? Are men really expected to walk around checking women out wherever they go and attempting to set up mating opportunities with every attractive lady they see? That sounds so caveman!

I've always thought that the best way to meet someone is through friends of friends. I certainly don't use a gym/supermarket/my local pub as a pick-up vehicle!

message for Greystoke:
You've heard this before, but I guess we all know that you don't listen! You're not ugly. I'm not exactly Brad Pitt, but I do alright. You really ought to stop using your misguided self-image as an excuse for why you can't get laid!

Not if you get them on the back of the ankles.

Like mentioned earlier, do not say, 'get your coat you've pulled' or talk about.
Just strike up a conversation about anything relevant, except the weather, that is so boring.
