But, will any kind of a relationship with a person a lot younger last? as it can only be really based on love. At my age, I would probably have much more going with a women closer to my own age. |
I'm not sure I agree that it can ONLY be based on love. I find some younger men mentally far more exciting than most men my own age, many who behave as if they have lost their zest for life. Although I'm generalising from those I've met (or nearly met) many moan and groan about everything and view the future as if they've 'done their time' and not got much to look forward to, it's so 'off putting'
It's not as if I'm immature myself and that's was why I like younger men, it's about the creative, lively thinking mind that I find attractive.

I probably should have said most cases Sue.
I've met a lot of women off dating sites in their late 40/50's, and a lot maybe most say the same thing..'older men cant keep up with me!!'
Take that comment how you want.
I think a lot of these women have probably spent the last 25-30 years in a kitchen sinks, and now they might have the freedom their ex husbands had.
Personally I've spent the last 30 years pubbing and clubbing, so maybe its not what I want to do now. I know a lot of women my age who want to catch up
Also, I think its a case of the old age discrepancy and sexual activity between men and women. A lot of women 38 onwards desire constant love. Most older men cant keep up
I think with the vast majority its love.

Well I'm not as fit as many women my age
but I more than make up for it with my lively imagination.

hm a dont think it matters too much, my parents are both with people 10 years younger than them and theyre perfect for each other. if you get on i dont see what age has to do with it at all, ive always dated guys older than me by at least 2 years and its never been an issue on either side. although i would draw the line at people older than my stepdad, mainly cause i think he'd break their legs

I know of a 24 year old women, and her 58 year old boyfriend is moving 250 miles to live with her. They met online
Not sure how long it will last, but good luck to them.

At what age - your own age - will you change that stance? I know a 35 yrs old granny. |
I might be old fashioned but I wouldnt dream of dating any woman more than 5-6 years my junior. I know things are different nowadays but I could use some advice . . . Embarassed

A lot of the opinions expressed in this kind of thread are based on longevity of a relationship, but I tend to think that longevity isn't what a lot of people are looking for. But even a few months or years that a couple enjoy together can be fulfilling for the time they are a couple and an acceptance of the situation changing and moving on can prevent a lot of unhappiness.
So how relevant is the age gap when relationships are viewed from a transient perspective?
Meeting somebody of any age can still end up pear shaped. I'm past child bearing years, so a younger guy who want s children isn't going to choose me for the 'long haul' and I know so many people who died young, so the arguments around death and old age may not be so 'black and white' in the real world.

Age is just a matter of when you were born. It's just a number. Obviously there is a lower limit, but otherwise I don't think it matters much.
The only rule I have is I will only date girls who were born on an odd numbered year.
Oh and no capricorns, cancerians or tauruses.
No one born on the 7th, 19th or 29th of the month.
No rats or dragons.
No one born in 1977, 1983 or 1991.
No one born between 7 and 7:30 in the evening, or 5 and 5:45 in the morning.
I'm pretty laid back about who I date really

As long as it is not classed as geronsiphilia im generally ok with it, but even if it does, who am i to judge? just leave people to it, if their happy they will stay, if their not they won't.
