Well said Miss Deepthroat.

That's a good point. If I were to rock up to the pub with a 18 year old on my arm, all the guys would be like... "nice one son." But if I were to rock up with a 38 year old, they'd all think i'm some kinda necrophile or summint.

I'm currently flirting with a 44 year old and it's great. I wouldn't have any problem taking her out for dinner. If anyone says anything, fcuk em!

See, another question to add onto this ... because i think it may be pointless starting a new post.... is...

Why is it more accepted for a younger woman to date an older man, but a little more frowned upon for an older woman to date a younger man? I dont mean like 24 and 29... i'm talking a good 20 year age gap.

As has been said by me, i was engaged to someone 18 years older than me, and it wasnt such an issue (some people said things, but marry em!) Whereas my auntie who was 39 started seeing a 19year old and she got ripped for it.

Why?

Yeah, I was gona ask something similar along those lines because I think it is more unacceptable from a society viewpoint if and older lady is with a younger guy.
Mind you it seems to have been sorted out and become accepted on Emmerdale with Louise and the lad, so if soaps have a story line about this may be it will break down barriers.

Often age does matter and its not just a number, unfortunately.

If it was my 18 year old girl going to meet a 33 year old man - I'd go nuts! (Mind you, she wouldnt be allowed a phone at 18 if she was mine, nor would the woind blow on her) However if it was my 18 year old son, going to meet a 33 year old woman, I'd say, get in there my son!!

Looking through profiles on this site quite a few girls seem to be looking for an older man, sometimes considerably older. Don't know what it's like with the blokes

Much as I agree age is just a number there has to be common ground. I would be horrified if an 18 year old chatted me up, firstly because i'd consider myself a pervert if I went there but secondly what could I talk to him about....hmmmm "I remember when you were born and blah blah blah was number one in the charts"....no thanks. As for dating a man who was very much older, my dad is only 58 so put into context I just couldn't. 5 or 6 years either side of my age would be about right.

hmmm...must say eyebrows are raised when I see some age gaps..they alter more than in years as time passes...much prefer the company of my own age group...nothing more nauseating than a man my age chasing teenagers..each to his/her own I guess...

Love that Joan Collins line about concern in age gap between her and latest fella..."whats the big deal she said..if he dies he dies".....

Are you sure you're not my dad in disguise?

For me I think 5 years either way would a good guide, maybe a bit older, obviously much younger would be very iffy.

I prefer my daughter dating older guys. From what I've seen, they treat her far better than the guys her own age and if my son went for older women that wouldn't bother me either.

I'm only concerned about their happiness and respect their right to make their own choices.
