I'm actually chatting to more people on the forums here! So would a site using a forum based format with the opportunity to swap email addies or phone numbers on a private path be a good idea?

Isn't that what we already have?

Well, they only just added the forum..but it is a pretty good idea!

They tend to block contact details in a general forum but by adding a private link then you can make direct contact! call it a cyber pub if you like! I would like to think that it would put more people in direct contact with each other!

that is what we have here to be honest. the reason that email addresses are blocked is for your own protection from smappers and mallicious code. also to stop worms on the site as it slows things down. well thats what i think i may be wrong tho lol.

If you want togive someone your email address the all you need to do is click on the www button at the bottom of their profile.

But i agree i have far more fun on here than anywhere else. i personally think it is a great way to get a feel for a person. you can see their oppinions on certain things and get a feel for the real them rather than a profile. much cosier

You would not get any more replies even if your phone number was on your profile...you would only get lots of advertising and spam text messages...

Apart from that people always exchange their phone numbers (or other stuff) once they get to know each other....

Well said danni. the spammers can get you anywhere! with time you learn to spot them! as for fun I agree too! at least you get a reply on the forums!!! OUCH MEEEOW!!!!!!!! a well thought out format with room for development and improvement and a willingness to listen to the "customer" and it's an idea that would be worth trying! have you never dated someone you had a chat with in a shop say? or just over the freezer in Tescos! and yup you get a lot more insigt to a person this way rather than your fav music and bookS and of course my gremlin I HATE RUDE PEOPLE! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR LOL

GOD I was not advocaating moby nums on the site! a private path option on the forums for a person to send their number to another without it going world wide! it could work but not if everyone is negative about new ideas and improvements!

i have already done something like that 2 years ago...you could get an anonymous phone number online that was forwarded to your real phone number...

i have similiar plans for the future .... maybe in my next holidays i will do something like that

no, a personal mobile phone number....billed at local phone call rates. but currently i have no way to receive sms to the server for free anymore so i disabled it

for texts we could all share a mobile number!!!

then you would text the username followed by the message...

you could make adding your own user name mandatory... that way you might be able to block spammers.... you could claso have an hourly changing code if you had real probs...

its all pretty straightforward to configure

In general it would all be easy to do but the thing is I doubt many people would use it....but I will try again some day....

Couldnt we just have a PM button alongside the www and profile, another forum I use has this and its so much easier to just PM straight from the forum direct to whoever it is you wish to message.
