I am looking to get myself a webcam and wondered if anyone had any recomendations. Question

I would prefer one with a built in microphone and which allows me to hear the sound through the speakers on my computer. Very Happy

They are all digital cameras. I have a tiny digital keyring camera (l'espion from digitaldream), which does well as low resolution fast transfer. A slightly higher resolution can be obtained from a very cheap digital camera from PC Link. I would not bother using too high resolution except for recording short video clips from my HP digital camera. It produced some quite good effects for a short clip of me skiing for about 5MB. Not bad for £100, although the camera was slated by most critics due to its poor digital zoom quality. (I have to say I never use the zoom feature on the camera so I'm not particularly bothered) I do use the timed shutter release and other features which most digital cameras with 3.1 MP at £100 do not have. The other features I like were the ability to use normal batteries, which is helpful as battery life is reduced at low temperatures. (HP Photosmart 435)

i have a little one from dixons, its made buy pc link its sleek small and has great transrfer rates so no freezing ect. also has an adjustable claw so you can attatch to a lap top/ flat screen or free standing. there are 2 types on it arround £20 and its compatible with xp the other is £8.99 and can be used on any windows. i personally have the 20 quid one and found it much better than a £60 one i brought last year.

The only camera which records sound was the HP photosmart 435. The sound quality is not very good, but the swooshing noises and wind speed effect sounds are quite good when you pick up a bit of speed going down a black run with the camera attached to your forehead! Razz

I think the Philips Toucam Pro II USB webcam is great quality for the price, you can read other people's opinions about it here http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=philips+toucam+pro+II+microphone&btnG=Search&meta=

If you need an optical zoom lense, look at the Canon video conference VC camera range, but they are fairly expensive. Good luck Smile

I have the MSI Starcam, which I grabbed from eBay for £13 new, it will transmit at 640 x 480 resolution, which is pretty much small TV quality & even has a nightvision mode, great camera for the price & it knocks the socks off of the logitech one I had before.
