But here is where it becomes interresting. If you are located somewhere in South Africa you will have to take into account that our local, wonderfull Telkom throttles the bandwidth available to you during 08H00 am till 18H00 pm.

This all just to make sure that you - the user - remains under their control. South africa falls under some of the slowest internet connections world wide.

The throtteling happens in the following way. As you request packets from the internet, Telkom will drop some of the packets to slow your speed down.
This all because they do not have the infrastructure to provide a decent service to it's clients.

as you can see i was picking one of the most common servers i could find on the forum and I'm really far away from where you guys live so your ping in gonna be lower but if it is located near Seattle then i would have lower ping then you, so in other words your ping is based on how far/fast your connection to the server is so since mine is 168 that means I'm 0.168 milliseconds slower then the server and it would take that long of lag so if i were playing a game i would do worse because i would be updating from the server slower then you.

This test is untrue, my conection rarely goes above 15kb/s and thats both upload and download together.

Btw, does anyone here know how to configure my 8mb line for optimum performance?
