In some ways monitor size is irrelevant nowadays. I have a 17" widescreen on my laptop, and the truth is I wish I bought something smaller and used higher screen resolution on it (it's a bugger to use on the train, for a start). But for PC, larger the better for me.

Both Desktop and Laptop set to 1024. Desktop is flat 17 flatscreen but I have never thought of changing it.

Not to flog an older topic, but thought I'd just share - on laptop its 15" @ something by something .. hang on ... 1440 x 900 and on the desktop well, its something silly due to 23" Apple Display and 32" TV being connected to teh G5 ... 32" mainly being used for WoW purposes *cough*
