Microsoft ban copied games from being used on xbox live, you can only play "backups" if you have a modded console.

ps3 sucks, ugly big box. 360 ftw.

PS3 is slim, now. Wink But I prefer the original model - sexy sleek look.

Why they ban you? Because pirating games is illegal and a lot of companies go out of business because people such as yourself are stealing their hard work.

They don't actually ban you for playing copied games, they ban you for modding the firmware on the 360 dvd-drive in order to play copied games. somehow they can tell the difference and go on massive banning sprees every 3-4 months.

I am not an expert on this subject but just thinking about it with the recent x-box live bans to people who used a pirate copy of call of duty modern warfare 2. This needs the support of the game company themselves so that Microsoft can actually track the legal copies of the game and if someone tries to play the game online with an illegal copy it does not flag up on their database so they block your console from using x-box live. So you can expect bans on the popular titles in the future but the less popular ones may be safe to play on pirate however Microsoft may be making steps to make sure all games are logged so they can ban people using pirate copies.

Depends on how you get the Xbox converted. I have a soft mod and I can play on live with anything in the drive. I quite often make backups of my originals so that the original disk doesn't get scratched and damaged. Never been kicked from Xbox Live for using backups.

I'd be careful, microsoft have a nasty habit of letting mods work on live for a long time, while secretly storing up suspicious xbox ID's. They get banned all at once at a much later date, to make it harder for modders to figure out what criteria is used for detecting you.

No problem for me, I hardly ever use Live anyway and I also have the app on my PC that allows me to link via the PC to Xbox live. It still works for the 360 even though it was originally for the first Xbox.

I own a PS3. But I'm no fan boy.

Every console has their advantages and disadvantages - there is no such thing as a perfect gaming platform.

Also, I own the PS3 'Fat', not slim. I prefer the aesthetic of this older model but damn, I wish has waited to get the 250GB version.
