i have mp3rocket...same as morpheus, limewire and bearshare..... but it wont work for me... it was fine until a couple of months ago when all of a sudden it started saying there was a firewall blocking it.
i have been in my firewall and set mp3rocket as an exeption. it should not be blocked. any ideas why it is? i have no antivirus running and nothing else should be interfering with it.

What firewall are you using?
It's possible you've installed a windows update and your connection now has Windows Firewall running?

are you using something such as norton? because these programs often create profiles and change between profiles creating old settings to be changed.
Also make an exception to the port the peer to peer program is using. Or change the port to something like 1080

dont have any norton or other anti virus installed..... and have done all u suggested.... i have no idea why it aint workin for me. unless its my router that is causing the probs... but it hasn't until recently. ah i give up lol

In all honesty, i would avoid all of those programs and Bit Torrents because they're too "traceable". It's easy to view your IP address and therefore easy to track your EXACT uploads/downloads. If you're going to use them, at least protect yourself with an anonymous proxy server:

This can easily be configured in your P2P program under "proxy settings" but will often slow your downloads aswell - it's a speed vs security thing. If you want the best security, i recommend Usenet (a.k.a. Newsgroups) which will give you full download speeds at all times because you're not actually "sharing" anything - everything is downloaded direct off a server and you do not have to upload anything. Downside is that you have to pay for access to a Usenet server, however i pay $15 a month for totally unlimited downloads which i think is great value considering i max out my 2Mb broadband whenever i download a file.

Very true. Only last week I had an email come to work from our ISP because someone complained I was "distributing illegal software" because of a file in my shared folder.
It was just a warning so I was lucky, but next time I'll be cut off and possible prosecuted. Needless to say I'll never use one of those file sharing networks again.

All good points, however the best thing to do if you are going to use these programs is to not share any yourself. The people who are concerned are after the ones that are doing the sharing, not so much the downloading.
Anyways AP, it's more likely that your ISP has placed restrictions on the ports that the P2P programmes use, and as the access has been severely restricted the programme assumes there is a firewall in the way. Most ISP's are restricting traffic to these programmes now.
