Well I reccomend grabbing UT 2004 if you get a system worthy, it doesn't need "huge" specs, and is loads of fun.

Well, for a start anyone who recommends moving to a Mac if you have a PC is totally off their rocker. Macs are useless, unless you've always had one, or need some particular software that you can only get on Mac (which is rare)

The g5, while it looks good, can be easily outrun by any Opteron based system, plus a PC is a LOT more user friendly.

I've got a fairly decent PC:

A64 3000+ @ 2.4ghz
1gb OCZ Plat rev2 2 2 2 5
ATI x1800xt PE (700/1600)

I can pretty much runh most any game out there on the highest settings with AA/AF no problem.

Personally, I'd chose AMD, but Intels new COnroe looks very promising, will be out in a couple of months.

Ok well as you know (of course by this post you dont) mac's no longer use PPC based chip and infact use intel chips. The latest mac laptop's also run windows and are better than any PC for the same money. As you posted this on the 1st of June and you are talking about G5's , it is like your comparing p2's to p4's. Get your facts straight before you mouth off before something you know absolutely nothing about.

The point here is that the MAC became more useful once Windows was installed on it Wink Besides, for less money, it is actually possible to build a system far superior than the MAC (It can also be upgraded easily without voiding any "warranties"). At the end of the day, they're both PC's. Just one costs a stupid amount, all pre-built systems do. As a gamer, I personally wouldn't venture down the Mac route for obvious reasons.

Let's not get this thread into a MACvsWindows debate,

ive just finished building my latest pc so i have nothing to upgrade, but here's my oppinion for what it's worth....... if you play a lot of games go with amd, if you use more applications or do digital photo and video editing go with pentium. 64 bit cpu's are super fast but compatible hardware drivers for them are very rare at the moment. stick to asus motherboards and you can't go wrong, also choose a motherboard that takes ddr2 ram instead of ddr. be careful when buying your power supply as a lot of new boards require a ps2 supply now. get sata hard drives instead of ide, also with a 16mb cache if you can find one. graphica card is a personal choice thing, but i have high definition audio on my new pc and it's veeeeeeeery nice....... cant think of anything else right now but feel free to message me if you have a question

Well there's a bloody fanboy if I ever saw one. Sad. And I do know my facts, and yes I know they are now powered by Intel CPUs, still slower than the AMD offerings until they implement Core 2 Duo (Conroe). So please, you kindly get your facts straight you moron.

Also, if your living in PC land, why bother getting an expensive Mac, only to be restricted by the lack of available software. For most users, a PC is a MUCH better option.

And Macs were still being sold with G5 cpu's when I posted. A graphic designer friend of mine just bought a new Dual G5 for work a week before I posted.

Why dont you check out my profiles and posts on www.guru3d.com & www.hardwareanalysis.com and then you decide how much I know.

Its you mouthing off about me thats after annoying me. How could you possibly know how much or little I know?
