Does anyone know how to fix an msn live messenger problem when you get error code 80072745 come up.

Tried checking firewall.... it's not that.
Tried checking if I can log on via web and that is fine.

Help!!!

My friend - it is a bug. I had it and still got it but it also happened with Yahoo msngr. History here. When my ISP cut off my Broadband, I began to use my NOKIA 6300 Cell fone (mobile) hooked via USB to my PC. For three weeks it worked fine - then both failed to login. I work in IT Solutions and know what I am doing with a puter. But after 3 weeks of conference with the MSN Helpdesk - it was clear that few - if any of the agents were following up or even reading the feedback I continually sent. I was getting only two eror msgs: 81000306 and I think it was 80042727. Never resolved as yet with MSN Live, but - I did manage to get the Yahoo Msngr working for a short few weeks. Deciced on a full format of HDD, and I mean full - as in FDisk and also KILLDISK. Re-installed XP Home (SP2) from MS-DOS and still the same shit. Hmm... the MSN helpdesk say it's my ISP, but how come I am able to connect via Web Messenger and also goto very restricted sites (My Bank is an example) so the plot thickens...
As an avid IT Analyst, and we all learn more from experience - I want to know WTF is going on here.

Would I be guessing that you are using a router that doesnt support upnp???

Even if it does, who the hell would use upnp on a router by choice? One of the worst home user options on a router imo. Unless of course you really take care of your pc's sat behind the router which lets be honest most home users dont.

hi

the only way to solve the problem you have is to complete uninstall msn messenger and then re download it and install again. the error is something to do with a patch on your operating system. make sure you have all the relevant downloads from microsoft update and then reinstall msn messenger.

Hope this helps

Ian

Analyst? You did a full OS reinstall because of messenger? Please excuse me while I choke on my dinner. The laughter won't stop.

I'm sorry, but you are full of shit. If you followed the thread a quick reboot of the router solved the problem. I think you should read a thread before commenting. Your problem may be different, but I am amazed at how you're so sure where the problem lies, yet seem to have absolutely no knowledge about what is going wrong to cause it.

Come on, he's an analyst. Every analyst I've ever dealt with tells you what the problem is, charges your company a ridiculous consultancy fee and then does absolutely nothing to fix it. Money well spent?

A good one, maybe, but this one has not even followed what has been previously posted, considered variables like >1 computer exhibiting the same problem or considered what actually solved the problem.

I wouldn't consult him on which brand of toilet paper to wipe my arse with, let alone a computer problem.
