i have a mobile internet with o2 and since I had it last december my mobile dongle kept going faulty and they had to replace it thrice. This last one that i got.. its not detecting networks again and It looks like its not working. Im not doing heavy internet stuff and I dont know why it keeps going like that.. has this happened to anyone here... and it is possible that it is my computer???

If it does the same thing on more than one usb port on the computer then it's likely the dongle.

TBH mobile broadband has proved very unreliable for me. The dongle always works, and always finds a signal, but half the time it has very low (56 kbps???) or no bandwidth. This even occurs when the signal is good. Vodaphone is rather unapologetic about it.
Sorry for my digression from the topic of dongles, but I just wanted to rant

Since having a rant, my mobile broadband has picked up and been behaving itself. Peaking at 2.2mbps on occasion! Now I wonder if vodafone are monitoring what I type

My brother had a 3 mobile dongle, it was crap, couldn't hold a stable connection for 5 mins. He's now on Vodafone and it's damn near perfect from what he says.

I'm using 3 mobile PAYG dongle it's quite good in my area, I do get speeds of up to 3.6 megabits as advertised (which is roughly about 360 kilobytes per second).
The only thing is that with mobile broadband the price per GB is expensive and a lot of companies seem to put a stop tap on how much you can use a month.
Think 3 is the only one which you can buy as much as you need as long as you use it within 30 days.

3 network is Good in my area too, I get about 3.6mb. I originally got the PAYG one so that I could use my laptop as and when, rather than pay every month but hardly ever use it. I have not sued it for about 6 months but when I do, all I have to do is put a tenner top up on it and it's good for 30 days.
You can top over and over as you need to and the 30 days starts from the time you topped up. 3gb limit for a tenner a month isn't too sad and I've never hit the limit by the end of the month doing normal stuff online.
