in the last year i have used flashpeak slim browser, its better than firefox and ie in my opion, i only use ie for msn related things, such as msn live spaces. this is only a 1.8mb download and it has brilliant features and performance, all those firefox lovers out there should give it a go.

About the text on web sites, I tried all that unicode/western european stuff and it didn't seem to help, so here I am back the the good old IE6 Smile

Disable "Use ClearType For HTML" within the Internet Options - Advanced. job done.

Been testing it prior to the very first Beta (thanks to contacts within Microsoft) and each build gets better & better.

Security has been tightened up vastly compared to IE6, and with the right combination of anti-malware tools, there is no problems with malicious software.

For those who say that FireFox is 'more secure', sorry but there are just as many, if not more security flaws within FireFox (don't believe me? Do some looking into them and you will be very surprised).

Firefox is more secure solely for the reason that anything made by microsoft gets priority targetting by hackers.

I thought this was common knowledge?

Ahh well, technically speaking firefox is equally as flawed security-wise, but they're also correct when they say it's more secure because it draws less hacker attention.

It's like linux, it DOES have problems with people exploiting it, but mostly it's considered uncalled for to hack opensource. Microsoft? Hack it till it falls to bits.

There was I in my first post asking not to turn this in to a debate.

If one his happy with FF then fine, but please don't slate IE off just because you don't like it.

Nah don't stop using the internet if you're worried about security... how silly is that?!

Just get rid of Windows completely and start usinf Linux or something... no virus software, no firewalls.... sweet! Very Happy

Bernard, this will always turn into a debate.

In IE's slight defence, Obviously it's going to be more compatible with microsoft websites - such as update and hotmail live. I've also found incredible amounts of websites have absolutely no firefox compatibility at all. Major ones. Usually the applets on them aren't built for FF.

I also think, seeing as i'm just siding with IE to make my opinion as unbiased as possible, that firefox hasn't done anything innovative since it's inception. I appreciate the "don't fix what aint broke" line, but to keep ahead of microsoft, they need to continue to innovate - not just focus on patching security issues.

Saying this, I haven't tried the new beta yet - so I could be entirely wrong.

Well Dan I might just go back with IE7 beta, I did sort the blurry fonts thing, someone in this thread mentioned what to do, but I was advised what to do before that post was posted - does any of that make any sence Confused

I put it on mum's computer and it looked horrible so I haven't bothered with it on any of the others. We all use Firefox anyway and for those sites that aren't written to render in anything other than IE, there's IETab.
