I like the FF3 one though http://marketshare.hitslink.com/report.aspx?qprid=31 |
The other browser related stats on that Market Share site are interesting too.
Whilst overall statistics accurately give IE the lions share, I think that individual web sites might attract different user trends, depending on the nature or content of the web site. For example, a lot of the web designer sites and forums that I frequent attract more people who use Mozilla/Firefox and Mac-based browsers, so the ratio of those browsers against IE is a lot higher than the national/international average.
I’ve just been chatting to some regulars on a music related web site that I manage, and the overwhelming majority (in fact almost all of them) who access the site during the daytime are using networks (mainly at work, also educational institutions), configured with IE6; many of them don’t even have Flash Player enabled (a few don’t even have Javascript enabled on their networks!). Come to think of it, I was vaguely aware of that anyway, and actually take that into consideration when I build some sites for clients and the user trends indicate that many of the business visitors might be accessing the site using browsers on networks with limited internet functionality – i.e. where the site is developed in Flash, I’d build a pure html/css version of the site too.
