a). Verify if you have the latest version of Windows Live Messenger which is 8.0.792.
a. To verify the version please click on the "Help" menu at the top navigation menu in your mail Windows Live Messenger Window followed by "About Messenger".
b). If the version is not 8.0.792, you would need to install the latest version of Windows Live Messenger from http://get.live.com/messenger/overview . After installation process is completed you need to sign into Windows Live Messenger again. This should resolve your issue. If the issue persists proceed to the next Step.
c). Start Windows Live Messenger and in the sign in window, select the e-mail address that you use to sign into Messenger from the "E-mail Address" drop-down list and click on "Forget Me". Click on "Yes" to confirm deletion. Try to sign into Windows Live Messenger again. If the issue persists proceed to the next step.
d) . Change Windows Explorer settings
a. Right click on the "Start" button and choose "Explore" from the short-cut menu to open the "Windows Explorer" window.
b. In the "Windows Explorer" window , click on the "Tools" menu followed by "Folder Options". Click on the "View" tab. In the Advanced settings list, check "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck the option "Hide extensions for known file types" under Hidden files and folders. Click on "OK" to close the "Folder Options" window.
c. In the "Windows Explorer" window, click on the "View" menu followed by "Explorer bar" and ensure that the "Folders" option is checked. This will ensure that you are able to see the folder list on the left side of the Windows Explorer window.
e). Delete the Contacts Cache folder by following the steps below:
a. Right click on the "Start" button, choose "Explore" from the short-cut menu to open the "Windows Explorer" window.
b. In the "Windows Explorer" window, go to the Folder list on the left pane and navigate to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Windows logon name>\Contacts\<Your Messenger email address> where <Windows Logon name> is the login name you use to sign into windows and <Your Messenger email address> is the address that you use to sign into Messenger
c. Delete all the files that are within the <Your Messenger email address> folder.
d. Right click on the "Start" button, choose "Explore" from the short-cut menu to open the "Windows Explorer" window.
e. In the "Windows Explorer" window, go to the Folder list on the left pane and navigate to the folder C:\Documents and Settings\<Your Windows logon name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows Live Contacts\<Your Messenger email address> where <Windows Logon name> is the login name you use to sign into windows and <Your Messenger email address> is the address that you use to sign into Messenger.

It is NOT more secure, I have to put this little point across to all FF homey's too, the fact there are no where near as many users are why it is "more secure". No virus programmer is going to target a niche market, they will always go for the biggest impact. As we will soon see with FF, when usage begins to equal that of IE, it too will suddenly become full of "holes" waiting to be exploited, and then another open-source project will storm the market and suddenly become "more secure" than FF and so on and so forth.

Can I see who blocked me?
No, this feature is no longer available because the block detection bug has been fixed.

In firefox's defence, it's never going to be considered as much of a target for viruses and hackers - simply because it's a free "Anti-Microsoft" alternative. Much like the same way the Linux community has always had less attention.
I'm not defending FF's security, but it's certainly more stable. Just suffering a little on compatibility at the moment seeing as everything's built for IE.
