Home >> Computers Hardware&Software >> Dell Printer 928

I'm a bit of a luddite so any advice will be greatly received.
I had a Dell Photo 928 printer that broke last week. Dell have sent me a brand new 928 printer but now when I try to print/scan/copy anything the whole machine switches itself off. Am I missing something totally basic when I hooked up the new machine or is it buggered?

Not sure what that one is capable of, can it copy without even being connected to a computer? If so does it still turn off then?
Are all the cartridges in fully?
Try reinstalling the printer drivers/software or see if there's a newer version on Dell's site.
Is it definitely a new one or could it be a refurbished one? Hoping you haven't got another duff one.

Cheers for the help.
Cartridges are in and I have re-installed all the drivers. It still refuses any job given to it though now before it turns itself off it informs me it is either out of paper or cartridges (which it isn't).
I think I have got another duffer.

Given that it can't even decide which it is missing it's sure looking that way.
Not heard of one that turns itself like that even if there is a problem with ink or paper, all the ones I've used just flash lights at you menacingly.

I spent most of the day trying to figure out the problem and I have discovered that the printer has compatabilty issues with Inspiron 530 desktops which is what I have got. Nice of Dell to sell me stuff that is not compatible!
I think Dell owe me a new printer.
The robbing buggers.
