I've got some spare time on my hands and have looking at studying computer forensics as a personal project.
I was wondering if there is anyone out there with practical experience in the field? That could offer some good advice and perhaps some direction. I have some background in the security sector having worked with a well known Anti-virus company.
I've been looking at a few books on Amazon but not sure which way to, any help would be appreciated.

Not being in a school with really expensive equipment I would imagine your forensic days are limited...

It's a tool that allows advanced data recovery as it offers a low level perspective of a HDD.
If you wish to recover files from a HDD that suffered massive destruction (via fire, earthquake, etc) you need some pretty specialized euipment to lift the data from a physically broken disk.

Well its just like normal CSI style forensics but with computers. In a way they are like hackers but working with the law
