Not strictly computer related, but close enough (internet)

I was wondering how many people here have their own blog? Not talking about Social Networking sites like MySpace, I mean a proper blog. I’d be interested to hear what blogging or Content Management scripts you use (or if you wrote your own script), and what you use the blog for (i.e. personal diary, club, society, social use, work, etc).

Is there anyone who doesn’t have a blog, and would like to have one? If so, what would you use it for?

Also, some Social Networking & Dating sites offer each member a simplified form of blogging along with their member profile page – if this was available on FB, would anyone use it?

Having read through the forum rules, I’m not sure it is advisable to post links to your blog on the forum if you do have one.

Where's the fb blog then? I can't see it in the menu, assume I'm just going blind Smile

I had a blog using WordPress software, then I got fed up with writing mundane things about me, me me and stopped.
I don't do a whole lot with my day so there was a limit as to what to write about, it was good for my pesky ranting although I reserve that for MySpace now.

Yup, ranting is what I do on my blog, which is way out of date. Not that I've had nothing to rant about, just no time. I miss ranting, maybe I'll start using my blog again. 2 days ago the morning show dj (Atlantic FM) read something out from my blog, so someone must like what I write Smile

One of the reasons I'm asking about blogs here is that I'm building a Social Networking web site and wanted to work out whether or not it was worth the effort of adding a blogging feature to it. Still not sure which direction to aim the web site in, that might be worth another thread, for ideas.

I have two blogs.... one on my own site....and one on msn.
I basically use it as a diary...and which one I write in depends entirely on the mood I'm in. I've been thinking of stopping my blogs though...because....even though both of them are open to only people on my list....sometimes I read back over a rant and...I don't like what I've written. But then again, if I didn't write it in my blog, I'd probably take it out on some poor fool.

I have my own blog, kind of ... in the sense that I don't really update that much anymore, just sparodic brain farts more than anything these days.

I wrote my own script to run it utilising PHP and MySQL, I have never bothered to write an admin section for it, as phpmyadmin does the job with no problems and saves my fingers in the process.

I did use the DSBS for a while (private build by a friend, initially just for his site, I beta tested and he released for about 3 weeks, before the S'Kiddies got a hold of it.....)

I've never had a social network blog, nor used any systems like wordpress, phpnuke etc. used the DSBS due to beta testing and not bothering to write my own for too long, but apart from that all self coded. although the current template is a free template with a few alterations and additions.

Probably wouldn't use a FB blogging feature, nothing to do with the site, just personal preference

A blog is also good for keeping a workout journal, if you want to track your progress and keep a record of what you have achieved in your workouts. it also serves as good motivation to keep working out because you do get to see your progress data when you want.
