Just wondered if anyone had tried beryl, and what you thought of it?
I know a lot of people argue that most of the effects aren't that useful, but personally I like it. I guess I'm the kind of person who would buy a porche not because of its performance but just cos it looks nice and is fun to drive.

Yeah, I've used beryl/compiz on and off over the last 8+ months and I think it's great. The computer feels a but retro when it's off. I show it off to as many people as I can. Even non-linux users often think it's cool enough to want it on their computer. If I was more pro-active and their machines up to spec I could get linux willingly installed on quite a few PCs as part of a dual-boot, and probably some as a single boot system.

I have Beryl, in fact it is running right this second
It is very good, need a fairly good machine to run it well. Graphics have to be OK too as well for obvious reasons.
It is not really as such useful, pulling pages over and stuff is alright for peaking at something behind. It is fun to play with though
