Your not alone in the world of ceramic art, and no it's not second rate. The art of ceramics includes shapes, design, painting, printing, history and a whole lot of facinating material.
The study of ceramics is vast and you can easily become hooked on the subject.

I very nearly took the subject when I was at school, I so wish I did, I love to create things and ceramics was my favourite class.

It's annoying that Ceramics is still seen as the poor cousin of fine art, there was certainly a fair amount of derision when I informed my friends that I would be studying ceramics at degree level. Some are still trying to talk me out of it. They just don't understand the passion involved when creating in clay!
