I love theatre
Back in Berlin a few month ago I went like three times a week!! Haven't been in London to theatre - makes me aware that I really miss something...

My little sister is doing a preforming arts thing at her collage, i think thats for theater etc aint it?
Other than doing that, its about getting "seen" so auditions? etc etc.
I did have a pretty good website once upon a time, had lists of all auditions for plays, films and tv.

Volunteering to help at your local school's drama classes?
Or the local community?
I expect your course will cover such things anyway, but putting yourself out there in your local community - they usually have an amateur drama group - would give you a)experience b)a foot in the door.

You need to speak to Chief O'Hara, one of the mods on here, but he's rarely on here now, He's an actor - mainly Shakespeare and i;m sure he'll try and talk you out of it! lol
Good luck

I AM AN ACTOR, MAINLY ON TELEVISION, AND IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN STARTING AT THE BOTTOM, I CAN GET THEM ON TELLY AS A WALK-ON/EXTRA.

Plenty of different careers to be had in performing arts, but if you want some acting experience try (as suggested by RG) a local am dram group. Don't just stick with the acting either. There's directing, producing, script writing, behind the scenes, set designing, costume making and I'm sure there are others too.
If it's professional experience you're after, be prepared to work for nothing occasionally, travelling and making a financial loss on occasion.
My short experience of professional work was very expensive as most of the work is in London and at £45-£55 for a return I worked at a loss and with a family to think about I couldn't continue.
Make the most of your age and lack of commitments. Go for it, and good luck

Here's a tip: when you are wanting to go into theatre, always inform your next of kin, and read the consent form carefully before signing it... just in case they amputate the wrong leg.
