| I'm beginning to see a need for a NEW feature on Flirtbox.
You set an age limit for people you want to hear from. This will automatically re-route messages (and Want like to meets) in terms of age. Contact from people over or under gets sent to other people who want to contact that age group. This introduces a random element into the process. (No, not that 'random'! The other random. And it cuts down on waste. (Especially time! And ensures that... Damn me! I started this as a joke, but it's beginning to make sense to me. Maybe it's just because it has turned midnight and my brain has flipped? ![]() |
ah but the problem with that is when i first came on here i was looking forsomone between my age then (19) and 21-22however i soon discovered from messages that the age range of people i actually liked talking to was 22-35
mainly because i have little in common with people my own age....
if your age limiter was in place i wouldn't have found this out as quickly as i did (within about 1 week

I agree with you Cat 'cos I've been on sites that do that and I was ruled out by lots of men because I was over their 50 limit, yet men on other sites in their 40s can say their looking for under 50s but change their mind when they see me because I still showed up on their searches.

We are of same mind LV men our age just 'don't get it' they blame it on all the wrong reasons too.

There's no age limiter in real life, you have to go by attraction.
But some women are always complaining about the messages they get from men..'too old'..'too young' etc. Some of us never get messages
But there must be an avenue open for some women on the net, as I've been out to pubs and clubs with women from the net in their 40/50's, and I cant say young blokes flock around them in real life. Maybe in most cases just a net fantasy for some young men?

I DO think that's true for a lot of guys jegs which is probably one reason I get mucked around a bit when someone off here has arranged to meet up, but if I go out to a club or pub with my daughter or my younger friends, I do get younger guys hitting on me all the time... admittedly they don't usually know I'm quite as old as I am, but it doesn't seem to put them off anyway, it's me that doesn't usually fancy them.

One thing I have noticed is that dating sites have tended to become more friendship sites over the years. More and more younger people are contacting older ones and vice versa, not for dates and such but just for someone to chat to.
Since I was an only child, I knew a lot of people much older than me, my parents friends mostly and I found that I could learn life skills from them as on top of the basic stuff that I learned in school. It's also interesting to hear another persons view and maybe grab some advice from someone who's been through what you may be going through now.
I have never got emails from younger women but one of the ground rules I would lay down in a reply is that they are too young for me to date but if they just want a chat, feel free to talk to me. I wouldn't just ignore them because they happen to be too young for me, I don't ignore anyone who takes the time to speak to me.
When it comes down to it, if there is a spark there after you've been chatting as friends, who cares what the age difference is, taking the law into consideration as well of course. Although I would be making sure it was what they thought and not just infatuation. I am aware that some younger people may also be less emotionally mature and unable to tell the difference.
I have friends ranging from my friends 12 year kid old right up to one of 90 years. I'm still learning from both older and younger people and I hope that I can also pass down my experiences to my younger friends or even help my older ones see things from a different perspective.
Read the mail they send carefully, are they asking for a date or just wanting someone older to chat to who isn't going to talk to them like mum or dad does?

You're right tryst in what you say. I talk to a lot of young people on many different issues and often it is exactly what they want, somebody not just to talk to, but someone who will actually LISTEN to them and help them think through the things that they don't feel able to share with people in their everyday lives. I also attract artistic people with some common interests and they're usually great to talk to.
My young on line friends are both male and female and all ages..... all part of the rich tapestry of life and glad that they form part of it. As you so rightly say tryst, learning goes both ways.

isnt it flattering for a so called older woman to be pursued by a young bloke? these 30 sumins moaning ought to count theyre blessings, not long til only hard up pensioners with a cupboard of jelly viagra will be askin. hahaha. and these women aint exactly zeta jones now ay
17.09.2009, 20:12 quote
They also, luckily, don't have the personality of Zeta Jones either.
People change over time and older people tend not to be as brash and arrogant as some of the younger generation. Also, they have learned to accept the hand that fate has dealt rather than trying to rail against it. It's often referred to as mellowing out with age.
17.09.2009, 20:31 quote
Point worth making! Zeta Jones married a much older man!

Yes, it is flattering and I'm not moaning, just trying to understand it because when I first got approached I thought it was all a big joke so it took a while to realise that there was genuine interest.....and I'm only to aware of advancing years, the time goes too fast... haha! I don't really need reminding. Oddly enough it's some of the younger girls that like to be nasty about us older women.

Maybe you should be flattered by the young women being nasty, it seems like they view you as a threat
