Have to second that - there's help to be had out there if its needed and it's not so difficult to find either. If your homless and there's no mental illness etc then its your own choice if you remain so.

Yeah a pathetic cause! How many people did Saddam Hussein murder, torture and persecute? But he chooses to ignore the crimes of Saddam and blame everything on Tony Blair and George Bush.

I am also not on the streets by choice! I had a lovely two bed room fully furnished council flat several years ago! It is sky high rents and scarcety of accomadation caused mostly by open door mass immigration, that keeps me homeless.

i seem to remember him going to court to oppose the laws against the right to demonstrate where he likes stoney, wether you agree or not with his anti war protest, he still has more of a reason to sleep on the streets than you do, because you turned down the offer of peoples help on here. you are happy being homeless.

I have already explained that due to the high price of rents and scarcity of available accomadation it is extremely difficult to get somewhere to live these days. All homeless charities do is put you up in their rip off hostels. Homeless charities are money making rackets that are worse than the state run services they replaced over 20 years ago which were called reception centres.

Up until around 1984 apart from the Salvation Army ones most homeless hostels were state run by the DHSS under the name of reception centres. The then Tory government decided to privatise this service by giving these places to so called homeless charities to run.

I seem to remember people trying to talk this kind of common sense into him before. It didn't work, he just came out with more crap reasons and infuriated everybody.

yeah stonecastle/castle greyskull doesnt seem to acknowledge that he could get off the streets fairly easily if he wanted to, he turns down job offers cos they were a couple of hours per day and wouldnt get a day off, but never mind the thought of using the employment status to get a place to live, oh no, thats far too much trouble. why not just carry on selling the big issue outside tottenham court road station and sleep rough on hampstead heath? UT

maybe stoney is the local nutter for hampstead?

I don't know any nutters where I am right now, but one from where I grew up is sort-of famous. Here's a google link that shows web pages on the net mentioning her:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=%22mad+mary%22+kilburn&btnG=Search&meta=

She's mostly harmless, but you do learn to stay a safe distance from her in case she hits you with her stick. She's been around since I was a kid, but it was only a few years ago that a friend of mine told me she had a name and showed me references to her on google.

Re: house prices & immigration etc, I agree with what most people have said here, there's no good reason any sane person with a decent brain need be homeless. I've managed to get by OK when I was in London both when working and whilst not working. It wasn't always easy, but it was possible.

Yes if I could go back in time 30 years to when accomadation was far cheaper and more plentiful. Or wait until the housing market collapses.

we have a "mad mary" as well. she hangs around town sitting on park benches rocking and punching herself on the face. the story is that she was physically, mentally and sexually abused by her father throughout her childhood. i actually feel sorry for her because a lot of people take the mickey out of her which can't help with her mental state.

oh and stoney. heard it all before and bored with it. get a job, get a life and get a home.!!!

I used to live in borehamwood, herts, house backed onto a playing field behind what is now the 'big brother' house in elstree studios.
Was this guy called 'Annis' who, during the summer nights, would stand in the middle of the fields giving a rousing speech to a crowd of people (that only existed in his mind)....
