if I had to pick I would say love, as you can have lust with love too. Though I think that carnal desire is what is at the the core of us and keeps us ticking. But I would much prefer love to lust, well, both, surel;y that is the ultimate desire.

Both are essential feelings but love is the most important.. lust is temporary and immediate, love is strong and lasting. It takes so much to completely love a person.. lust is so basic in comparison. So given the choice, I much rather have love than lust. But my true desire would be to lust after someone I loved!

As the Beatles said: "Bah ba ba da daaa all you need is love!"

Thought about it and I believe it really comes down to which angle are you looking from and what are the circumstances.

I now believe again lust is more important, but for another reason. As you said, Shirazkhan... Came to think of it as lust = a glass of water when you're most thirsty, love = a cocktail you simply enjoy. I suppose thirst is a basic need. Love is a need too, basic too, but lust is far more acute, it's the the one which makes your flesh hurt... I don't think love does, unless it's accompanied by lust.

But again, as I said, it's a question of which angle you're looking from. I think they're taking sides on being more important and better inbetween them.

It's a thorny subject. Razz

Anyway... Lust is indeed short, but it can be revived over and over again. It's really a question of not being able to have the object of your desire or wanting to connect even more than you can.

Anyway, yet again, what we're speaking of are two different things, one which needs to be put at rest and one which exists on its own.

Don't know if what I said makes much sense, but... Well... Y'know. Laughing

The Greek word which translates as lust is epithymia (επιθυμια), which also is translated into English as "to covet".

Lust means to want and I do believe that in the words of Mr Spock ,"having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting" the butterflies the lightheadedness of desire as a feeling are quite unmatched.

If you have lust and it turns into love then you are very lucky. But I really think lust FEELS better and love is down to luck.
