Bout of random thinking.

What's more important? Love or lust?

Please refrain from using the "little bit of fun" argument as it has no legs, missing half a torso and gone off it's head.

Well, I'm saying love...... as it's longer lasting and also involves far more people..... Just my opinion..... which I also have about people wanting "just a little harmless fun" (will keep me gob shut on that one though) unless someone wants to start a thread on them.... Twisted Evil

I think they're both important in their own ways. Two totally different things which can come together but it's not a must.

Besides... As I mentioned before, the only thing which differentiates love for a best friend from love for a hubby is the sexual thing.

So to conclude it's all down there. PMSL =))))))

Which is more important? Well considering another topic debating how wrong it is for your best friend to forget about you when they start dating someone... I'd say lust is. =))) As love is everywhere. But, again, as I said, they don't necessarily go together.

However to conclude again (I know, I'm stupid, you can't conclude like this Razz)... If lust didn't exist, then we'd all be best friends. Get the picture?

Also... Thank you, Shaz. Your question just made me see the big picture as I was stuck on detail so far.

I think love is more important, but lust comes very close behind it in my opinion.

Love & Lust are just as important ....... surely you cant Love someone if your not lusting after them, obviously the lusting decreases with time, but has to be there in the first place ...... Confused

No worries, Bliss.

To add meat to the bones...

Lust and love are separate things, but not unrelated. Lust is merely a poor imitation of love.

Lust is a desire for sexual gratification. That is at it's core. Do not confuse it with sexual attraction (which I surmise is the "lust" you are talking about AM)

Lust is a means to an end. Take one night stands, the mainstay of lust. They end like they start, really quick. The need to bed that person preceeds all else - and when that need is fulfilled - it's over.

love really, ..too many people lusting after anything with a pulse that bats an eyelid their way, ...i think love, ...genuine love that is, is more lasting and meaningful

Well you surmise wrongly then ....... not sure if you have ever been in love ........ but lusting after someone you love has nothing to do with a quick one night stand. Wanting that person, having lustful thoughts, acting out those lustful thoughts, etc. Is part of a very healthy loving relationship

So lust is only a desire when someone wants a quickie Confused

I meant to use the one night stand example as an instant where lust rules over love.

Lust is easily defined, Love is not.

No offence meant but you are no one to comment on what I have experienced or not.

I do not say that sex isn't part of a relationship, neither do I say that one can subside on love emotionally minus all the intimacy that it brings.

I was pointing towards the definition of Lust. Lust is defined as an intense, obsessive and overwhelming craving or desire which is usually of a sexual nature.

Quite honestly, whats more important depends on you the person and where you are in your life. I don't think anyone can say one is more important the other. You know what one I want right now Laughing
