As 8Legs has said the problem is with finding something in common with that younger person. If i went for a lot younger bloke he'd end up playing on the Xbox with my son all the time!!! |
Me and Krian probably did take the thread off course.
But we all know foxylady probably wont be able to put them off, because some of these people probably don't read a lot of profiles, they just send out loads of messages and hope they get lucky. All she can do is just delete them, as 8legs said if it looks like they haven't read her profile, why should she reply to them ?
The matter of a lasting relationship is another topic, and probably is a thing of the past

Some younger women who are attracted to older men seem to think they are better at love [which could well be codswollop]. Probably the same with younger men/older women.

I like guys of any age really, but I had no idea in the beginning when I came on fbx, that the messages I was getting from the very young men were actually serious!!
25 yrs younger seems to be the lowest I can feel comfortable with though, but it depends on so many factors really.
As I've said before on similar threads, I don't like to be with anyone where I feel like I'm their daughter or their mum. I do have a preference for men a bit younger and I like colourful personalities, and so many guys of my age are often too set in their ways and are more likely to have a hidden 'significant other'.
I'm often approached by guys more than 30 yrs younger, not just on the web either....... I find it hard to get my head around such a big age gap and do ask the Y questions but there are more complex reasons beyond these obvious ones, mothering, sexual experience, financial, or an easy ride to the UK.........

that was it for me, older women seemed more confident in themselves.

Older women are less inhibited, and the idea of the cougar effect where older women chase after a younger man is flattering. I guess there is an impression that older women would be less clingy as well. (im just being honest here). Also women reach their sexual peak in their thirties and ooze sexuality for the next decade and a half. That would be certain to attract a lot of men both young and old.
Also most women age gracefully and beauty does not diminish with age, so looks don't play the negative effect you think they might.

so what your saying is she was old enough to be your gran....how did your mother feel about that? and was age a factor in the break up of the relationship?

It wouldn't be easy to have a relationship Bex [except for a sexual one] with someone that much younger, and doubtful it will be lasting. But I'm someone who takes everyday as it comes and let tomorrow look after itself...and I dont really care what anyone else thinks. Age is really a state of mind, and it probably depends on what kind of relationship you want,
Finding someone who has things in common with you is always the hard part. But maybe a bit easier in someone roundabout your own age.
The women I'm interested in on the net and in real life are all younger then me, and one women I was really interested in off the net, was 15 years younger then me [35], and maybe something might have happened if I wasn't so negative, which is the story [another one] of my life. But she was mature and had kids. So age difference is always subjective and depends on the two individual people. Where the 'too young' age starts is always arguable, is it 10, 15, 25 years ? who knows, But I have chatted with a few women 10 - 25 years younger then me I could have something with, and I'm not embarrassed to say that. You Bex are a lot younger then me, but are you to young for me ?...some people might think so.
he he are you sure older men wouldn't enjoy playing on an Xbox ? I've never played on one, but my brothers, one older then me, are always on them with their sons.
* edit, I can see I've already replied to this post by BexBex, so that this as an extension to the other.

Good questions, not sure if you are inferring he should be bothered what his mum thinks though Scott. I doubt its a reason for a big family bust up nowadays, but would be interesting to know.
There hasn't been many answers to what would you think if it was your son/daughter question.

No i didnt mean he should be worrying whether or not his mum approves, but rather, i wondered what his mother might feel about him dating a woman old enough to be his gran, seeing as its a little more at the extreme end of the age scale. I am sure such an age difference would put added stress on the relationship, as you would always get people who like to judge and point the finger, which is fine if you can cope with that, but some people cant and let it get to them.
As i have mentioned before on here, between the age of 30 to 32 i was dating a girl who was 19 when we first started dating, her mother absolutely hated me, even though she didn't know me, she just hated me before she even met me purely because of my age. I can understand she might not have like the age difference, but my ex girlfriends father actually got on rather well with me and was a really nice bloke, so it was two opposite ends of the scale with her parents attitude towards me.

Probably not the age difference, rather that she was young. Not sure it would be a problem if I started seeing someone that is 38. Maybe the father realised his daughter was safe with you.
I had a thing with an 18 year old [who already had a kid], when I was in my late 30's and no one had a problem with that. Probably because she had a kid and people perceived she was mature, which she was.
My mate is 49, and he is seeing [knocking off] a 17 year old, and her mum met him and kind of vetted him, and said it was okay. To be honest the age difference is more of a strain on him now then her, because he can see it isnt going to last. She seems to want more.
I was chatting to a women now in her 30's on another forum, and she had an affair with a 63 year old man when she was 16, and she hasn't got any problem with it and said she enjoyed it. Apparently he very fit for his age...and maybe an inspiration to us all.
I'm not sure how I'd feel if I had a 17/18 year old daughter and she was having it off with a 50 year old. But I don't think it would have bothered my dad if my sister had done it, so maybe it wouldn't bother me too much, as long as she was safe.
But as I said to the women that had an affair with the 63 year old. Life's too short to look down your nose at other people.

As you probably know Red, that could well be a myth. Age doesn't always bring maturity in men or women
18.08.2007, 18:14 quote
My daughter has only ever been with older guys, her present boyfriend of 2+ years is 10 years older. I've never had a problem with that but she would have had a problem with me having a boyfriend younger than hers, but sees things differently these days, partly, I believe from the influences of her mates.
