When someone messages you on here or other places you're signed to, is there a minimum amount of sentences/ words before you reply?
Is it purely based on the message or does the profile work it's way heavily into the equation?
WHY do you think you're worth so many words?
We're also to assume that the person messaging you isn't an illiterate saying, "pics plz" or asking for sex.
Do you take so much effort to message people(if) with your high standards of a message? If not, why not?
Are there any other factors as to why you won't reply to someone? Maybe they're too intelligent or use "big" words? Maybe they have a small scar? Maybe they're not like your(narcissistic)self?

And a point I've been wanting to make - If you're saying in your profile(s), "if you want to know more, just message me. I'll try get back/ I'm very friendly" and you are not responding to people, you may want to reconsider what you've written. Very Happy

This could have gone in other sections, but this section is the best, imo. Wink

For myself, I'm fairly lenient. It's not necessarily the amount, but how it's spelled and it can't be the most non-arsed message ever. Although a lack of punctuation isn't a bother, "hy ow r u" can be. I'll reply to almost everyone as long as they make an attempt to keep conversations alive as it doesn't mean it's going towards a relationship; There's many other people on the website.
Although I have been saying recently that I make an effort not to send the first message now as it tends to be ignored and it's a case of why should I bother? This has partly been the founder of this thread, but I thought it would ALSO add something a teensy bit different

And yes, all bitching about ignorance is welcome. Wink

Edit: Bloody hell I can ramble. Embarassed

This is an interesting question.

I don't reply to messages that make no sense. I'm talking about text speak. I cannot STAND it.

If a message talks about doing anything explicitly sexual to me I don't reply or I tell them where to stick it (not in me that's for sure).

I reply to messages that look as if someone has taken the time to write it. Even if it is to say thank you, but no thank you or to suggest that if they want to attract a woman they might want to say something different or change their tack a bit.

If a message interests me or makes me laugh then I message back to find out more about them.

I always try to be legible and polite, unless someone is a twat, in which case I treat them as such.

As long as this country has a monarchy I will do my best to use the Queen's English

Some sites have a list of opening lines for people to select when they want to make an initial contact with someone and I'm so glad fbx doesn't encourage that idea. I call them templates' and in my profile I mention that if a guy use them for contacting me, then not to expect an answer from me either.
If a guy can't think up some suitable words of his own, then he's unlikely to be my kind of person either.
As for the Queen's English Laughing I thought I spoke that, but apparently not Surprised maybe too many wanna s, aint, innit, 'cos, 'bout.....who knows, but what am I worth? Hmmm I guess that's best understood by considering what would happen if I was no longer here here.

Personally I dont worry about pics or profiles, they dont tell you much and are rarely a guide to whether or not you are attracted to anyone when you meet.

I'll chat to anyone, but get fed up if the women just answers all my question, but dont ask me anything or try to broaden the conversation. some women are not very imaginative. But then I'm not saying I'm brilllant to chat to Very Happy

Has to be said I am with Jegs on this one.

Well, for most of what he said any how. Wink

I ALWAYS look at the profile, even if i dont like the message. Text speak irriates the life out of me Evil or Very Mad , and so i wont respond to it, as does having no picture. I know its not the be all and end all of life, how someone looks, but its nice to have a picture in your mind of who you are talking to. Rolling Eyes

If the picture isnt what attracts me, then i tend to respond and say thanks but no thanks.... call me shallow if you like, but as someone has pointed out, its a visual world. Rolling Eyes If there isnt an instant attraction looks wise, its likely that it isnt going to go very far sexually, unless all you want is friendship, and then thats fine!

As for speaking to the person, if they ask me questions and want to know about me, brilliant (i will talk about myself all day long Embarassed ) but also, i will ask questions back. I am naturally a rather nosy person, and also, it helps to keep conversation flowing. Very Happy

If, however, (as has just happened to me this minute) they offer to send me a picture and its of their COCK...they go on instant block. Evil or Very Mad I dont want to see it thanks...! (unless of course i have asked first!!!)

H x

Looks like she was agreeing with this bit Jeg.

Is that right Heidi?

I'm getting a little tired of being presented with cocks all the time too.

Just lending a helping hand. Wink

I agree with Mirrorpool that having a set text to contact people just takes away any effort for the person sending the message to think of something witty or honest to say. It's another persona to hide behind (which thread were we talking about that on?) and it's lazy.

If someone is not willing to even make the effort to try at such an early stage of knowing someone then what will it be like later on?

I for one think I'm worth at least just a drop of blood sweat and tears.
