Today I received 2 letters with contents:-

*was 2 books of raffle tickets which would cost £20 to buy the lot

*was a cheque for £40, completely unexpected

So, what do you think, am I supposed to 'gamble' since it would be money I wouldn't have had?
What would you do?

If the raffle tickets are for a worthy cause, buy the raffle tickets.

If the raffle tickets are for an ‘unworthy’ cause, you can still do something worthy with the money and treat yourself at the same time – you can get quite a nice bra for £40 and post a new photo in the Boobies thread

How about a compromise? Say a fiver on some tickets, and also treat yourself to summat?

I do know what you mean though - a few years back, I was really skint, walking along head down feeling miserable, found a fiver on the ground and as I stood back up after picking it up I walked round the corner and went SMACK into a homeless guy sat on the ground with his dog. I felt so awful (he split his lip as I fell over him) I gave him the fiver... Confused

The prizes are actually wonderful for someone like me as they're all visits to beautiful spiritual centres around the world. They also give the option for winners to have the money equivalent instead.

Last week somebody told me I was going to win something, so although that may not be the case, I'm thinking that the arrival of the raffle tickets and money to buy them at the same time is odd. I know I wouldn't have even thought of buying the raffle tickets without the money arriving the same time.

Its a quote from Hot Shots

Topper Harley: Mrs. Thompson, I know you must hate me right now but there's something I want you to have. I've been putting a little away for the past ten years. It's not much. 2500. I wish I could do more.

Mrs. Mary 'Dead Meat' Thompson: Why, Topper. That's so sweet. Why, with the three million that I won on this Lucky Lotto ticket, I can take this 2500 and just blow it all on hats.

...............I guess you had to be there.
