In fact, no, Red did NOT meet the challenge.

She didn't think he was ugly, because she didn't know WHAT he looked like.

And indeed, the guy didn't know what she looked like either.

But the fact that they got together WAS unusual, nonetheless.

Site usage stats show that guys with no photo get only a quarter of the responses that guys with a photo get.

And women with no photo receive only one EIGHTH of the responses.

Stats show that an undesirable guy (say, short in height, red, curly hair but balding, low income, etc.) will get more responses than an ideal guy with no pic.

ok, still not quite met the challange, but when I first clapped eyes on him I admit to being disappointed Embarassed but I thought about it alot and the fact that he was still the same guy I had fallen for online and decided, sod it, I may never come across a personality like his again

Huh Scott!!!!!

Well i've got a photo, not red headed! average height! average hair for my age and a reasonable income. A lesson i have learnt the hard way is not to mention or brag about things i own! due to the fact that i have noted little pound signs flashing in the eyes of people i have met! Where i live a prerequisite is that you own a BMW a fat wallet and your own home and you are a sucker!
Incidently i clock up the view-ometer but my in box is dying of starvation?

could it be that i'm too old, too fat or i don't have that tom cruiser phizzer?

You face the same challenge that I do, eccles, in that you're not tall.

Apart from that, you should not wait to be messaged, but should message first.

And focus on shorter women, who will have less of an issue with you not being 6 foot tall.

Another reason these forums are good. You can get to know someone enough to look beyond what you might pass over on a quick glance.

I suppose so, Red, but the facts are that women generally don't want to date short guys.

There's no evidence that most people "look past" their preferences at all.

You seem more open-minded than the large majority of women.

I'm implying no criticism of the average preferences.

I think it's completely natural for men to prefere pretty women and for women to prefer tall men.
