This one has been inspired by Trundo's post about size.

So what do you guys look for in a profile?

I have to be honest and say that height is the first thing I look at, then its eyes and mouth. I like to see a smile and I like to see that the eyes are reflecting the smile. I love a twinkle in the eye, it usually denotes mischeif Wink

Then I check to see what they've added about themselves in the likes/dislikes etc. If it's blank, I'll very wrongly no doubt, assume that there personalities go with it!!!

i usually look straight for taste in music and what they've written about themselves Very Happy if it's interesting then i'll chat to them Very Happy

I look for something we have in common first, their music taste, to see if they are typing like an illeterate idiot. Then I look at the picture.

I hate profiles that have no details.

I tend to loook to see if they're lesbians firstly! LOL then for signs of mutual interest! Then age, height hmmmmmm well no 6 footers for sure, a liitle intelligence with a lot of humour helps too! A blank or semi blank profile leaves little or no common ground for discussion so they go down the tube! Plus shallow i know! But i avoid peeps who comment about hating rude people! Because i've found that they never reply! I agree Red a twinkle in the eye does help for me as well and at least the effort of a smile theres a hell of a lot of grim looking people on FB

If a profile doesn't interest me, I won't reply to their message. Harsh, I know.

is it ok if i call you peachy? sounds better than the first part of your Nick?

It was suggested sometime ago about using the forums as a kind of dating chatbox? I still think it is a good idea! Something along the lines of a topic where people could post a subject along the lines of say "Cheeky chappie in the South West seeking a cheeking Laddette for chatting and poss more?"

an instant messanger could be used so that a safe dialogue could be established if someone wished to chat to you?

Sorry but your current pic is anything but grim Embarassed (i promise i'll stop hitting on you LOL)

But yeah, personally the pic attracts me to a profile, but once on a profile I look at location, then if they are in my area I look for what they like, books, music, filums etc etc and then I read what they had to say for themselves Smile

Yeah i think the whole instant message thing would be good, i think a lot of people from the forum seem to message other members from the forum too, it would just cut out all the middle confusion logging on to profiles etc to message Smile.

When I was still looking at profiles, I looked for (only ever in my local area and in the age range I find reasonable):

Photo (has to be good-looking in my eyes)

Height (to make sure *I* am not too short for her)

Description
(must be interesting, intelligent, happy and not snotty, plus I would check whether the woman excludes people like me writing to her, on ground of age or anything else).

Education

How do you qualify education? I mean, do you look to see if she only has a school education, a degree...what? OR do you, like myself, look at how she (or he in my case) strings words together, her knowledge of life, what she reads/listens to?

now i'm going to stick my neck on the block!

Yup scott i agree must not have a snotty attitude! or come across as having one! Down to earth springs to mind! i don't mind poor spelling as long as the meaning comes across properly! Ok you have to hear my accent and voice to understand where i'm coming from but i keep getting told i sound too posh!!!! not the case! Now education this is a bit of a difficult point! I am educated to HND standard with 30 years experience in my profession I have all my certificates but not a degree! Personally as long as someone can make reasonable conversation i don't look at the quailification factor at all, I also have an excellent degree in the school of life which is coming up the hard way!

Yes.

That's the bit where I said I would read her profile to see if she is, among other things, intelligent.

Interesting. I tend not to equate intelligence as necessarily running along side a particular level of education. Met too many educated pillocks I guess and a good few very bright people with barely a scrape in a GCE Smile
