So I rang my sister, who was supposed to be riding with me and suggested a walk instead. Ended up walking for miles around a place called Druids Grove, very hilly and wooded. I think the cycling would have been easier

Yeah its only the 2nd time i used that bike rack (rear bike rack, not a roof rack) and its a hell of a lot easier to remove the straps than put them on and make sure the rack is central, tight etc. But hey, I still had a day out and I can take as long as I like with the puncture repair now
