Once again someone has been over zealous by tapping the lock topic button and for no apparent reason. There is a thread on this board that has been locked, and for what reason i do not know.

Is this not meant to be a message forum that is there for people to use to create and reply to threads?

Come on people, if you cant show reasonable judgement, then ask for your buttons to be removed and let this place be a nice relaxing haven for its members, instead of one that is controlled by a bunch of little hitlers.

185093 registered members, and how many actually return to visit and post? Hmmmmm...

Oi...I'm one of those 'little hitlers' that you speak of!

Didn't lock your thread, though.

Mods, a little advice. If you deem a topic to be in the wrong forum, or to be off topic, then move it to the right one. If a topic is getting replies, then it is obvious that people are enjoying the direction it is going, otherwise they wouldnt be replying to it.
I could agree in locking or deleting a thread if it was nasty or abusive, but those that are not should be left as is, and at the very least moved to another forum with a note left to let people know it has been moved.

One little piece of advice - SORT IT.

Although I agree, I think it's a case of the mods word is the last word or is it Confused

Fair enough if the mods lock threads that are nasty or abusive, but anyone who uses their authority just because they can is just a jobsworth.

Internet threads go off topic all the time.

Fine to post a quick "back on topic please", but NOT fine to lock unless it's become nasty.

I presume this relates to "Is this the way to . . . "

I just had a look, and, while it was silly, I can't see any posts that would merit it getting locked. No-one locked morillo's "Advice" threads, which were equally silly (and fun!)

I look forward to the mod's explanation for this.

Whilst I don't always agree with Tiny's tone (soz Tiny) I have to say that the lock on his thread was uncalled for, especially as there was absolutely no explanation as to why what-so-ever!

A mod may have deemed it pointless, but as Tiny pointed out, people were replying, therefore not pointless to some. And we all know that some of morillo's threads are totally whappy, but just because he makes us all wet ourselves laughing, it doesn't make Tinys any less relevent.

So the mods have autonomy?! Hmm.. interesting.

This is the internet.

Plenty of other websites and forums to visit if people start making it unattractive.

Just had a look at the thread your talking about..I think it would have been nice of whoever locked it to had explained why, as just to see it locked is not nice..As for thread locking, well it is the mods final say that counts..
its at their discretion...
Interesting to see that another post entitled 'ummmmm' that you started and could be seen as less relevant than the post locked, is still active..

Yeah, but they have to behave themselves, too.

They're volunteers, not police.

I think it applies here too..As it is seen as challenging and argumentative..

I see no harm in challenging a mods decision if there is no explanation as to their actions what-so-ever. Mods are not paid members, therefore cannot have absolute autonomy (my new word of the day by the way).

And as you mentioned Kev, the 'ummmmmmm' thread has been left alone!!!
