The G20 protests in London start tommorrow the 28th of March with a massive march through central London called put people first. Then protests will continue on Wednesday the first of April with demonstrations in the City of London and on Thursday the 2nd of April with a mass demonstration outside the G20 summit venue outside the Excel Centre in Canning Town east London.

It's always good to set yourselves nice easily achievable aims like that.

I'd love to know what 'they' plan to replace Capitalism with once they overthrow it.
Their Manifesto states:
| Quote: |
| Manifesto
-Can we oust the bankers from power? -Can we get rid of the corrupt politicians in their pay? -Can we guarantee everyone a job, a home, a future? -Can we establish government by the people, for the people, of the people? -Can we abolish all borders and be patriots for our planet? -Can we all live sustainably and stop climate chaos? Can we make capitalism history? YES WE CAN! |

Damn, I'm washing my hair that day

Well it sounds somewhat communist really. Which is solid enough in theory...

I agree with that.
But although Communism is ideal in theory, I seem to remember there being cries of 'Overthrow Communism!" Of course, with the benefit of hindsight of other people's mistakes, I suppose there will always be someone who thinks they can 'do it better'.
Quite frankly, I don't want some moron who intends to act like a yob at some protest running the country I live in anyway.

lol effigies of bankers and head of states being burnt with some kids ((a few of which wearing nike sportrs wear)) throwin rocks at shop windows... lmfao yup i once saw an image on the net of these kids in one of your escapades wearing nike trainers throwing bollards at a mcdonalds shop window lmao ((his friend workin inside might have caught a splinter in his eye lol))...ironic? lol and also another chunk of the hardworkin (there are some) taxpayers money spent on policing the riots and also the disruption caused on the aftermath .....i remember these rich kids back in hampshire used to organize to join others in london like "ish you should come join us" their preparation included a picnic basket of hardcore intoxication ...i was like "you people are funny" ...they'll come back and we'll all meet up for a session at the local pub and i will laugh at their bruises and how "stoked up" they were lol
i aint knockin your movement tho, my views are from a singular perspective lol biased from fun memories

Greystone always comes back to publicise some demo. I wish he would get a job
27.03.2009, 18:18 quote
Rather that than the pick up artist stuff, besides it's a bit of an assumption that he's not working still. Oh alright it probably isn't.

I've met stoney and he seems a nice enough chap.
Some people are probably not that easily employable, especially with what has been expected over the last couple decades.

I work with adults who have learning disabilities Jeg, some of them cannot string a coherent sentence together but they are employed by national and multinational companies still because manual labour is always needed. If they can work, there is no reason why an able bodied and able minded man such as greystone cant.

I hate it when people oppose something without being able to come up with an alternative.
I think if you had a clear vision and intelligent solution to the current problems, the G20 would be happy to pick it up...
I am sure more then half of the people going to the protest just want to protest...they would go to any protest and support it, just for the sake of it - without understanding what it's all about.
If you want to protest about something reasonable, what about this:

|
...Plans to monitor email traffic and telephone calls made in the UK could be extended to social networks, the government has said. Ministers have announced that they want activity on sites such as Facebook and MySpace to be monitored to help in the fight against organised crime and terrorism. The EU already asks communications companies to monitor email and telephone traffic in Europe in response to terror attacks in Madrid in 2004 and London in 2005. The UK government last year announced plans for its own anti-terror database and is now targeting social networks in the hope of exposing terror networks in the UK. [...] |
I think you should rather protest about the lack of privacy in the UK and the cooperation /exchange of private data between the British and US government...then opposing the G20 who tries to find solutions to problems.
27.03.2009, 19:08 quote
haha but their alternative solutions are listed in the manifesto, this includes ousting the bankers and gettin rid of politicians "in their pay"
also in the site is a list of pdfs to download, including "print your own money" and "storm the banks" lmao i downloaded the "print your own money" pdfs ((with the immediate idea of investin in a laser printer)) only to find a photoshopped £20 note with smileys on it that stated "Party In London" on the back dammit!!!

Thanks to this shite we've had security warnings at work. I work in the city opposite a very well known bank's HQ. We've been told to work from home if possible and cancel any unnecessary meetings. You can see that people are little edgy about all this...
Oh and we've had threats about people breaking in if our lights aren't turned off.
Protest all you want but not when it disturbs people going to work and earning a living.
