For brevity the initials FOOM are to be used and it is to be called, interestingly enough, The Foom!

This is the highest award that Flirtbox can give to a non-member and can only be given for exceptional or distinguished service to a Flirtbox member.

After due consideration, the early candidates were ruled out:
verycheekme's regular earbashee, for sustained earbashing beyond the call of duty.
(Who, sadly, didn't want to be named.)
Steve G's good sense, for regular disappearances during the call to duty.
(Who, sadly, couldn't be found... Again!)

So...

The inaugural Foom Award - sound the trumpets - goes to missjb's Dad, for ironing beyond the call of duty, ensuring missjb is called early and generally looking after her.

Please tell the recipient of this prestigious award and pass on our good wishes.

Also ensure the recipient is given breakfast in bed on Sunday, a big kiss, and told how much he's appreciated.

Nominations are now open for further awards.

There is, of course, an enormous respect for him, and all his absences in the face of danger, but any undue familiarity with a nominee is strictly forbidden under the FOOM Articles of Incorporation. However, one feels a balance must be made between that sort of familiarity and the more formal (but probably not immediately recognisable) names of the individual nominee concerned.

BTW - His new book (Looking Out For Number Twos: How to deal with fear in life-threatening situations) is out now.
