Oh silly me! How could I miss that? The only thing its not good for is standing on to give someone a kiss. You need a yellow pages for that

That's what yellow pages want you to believe. Any sturdy book is good for kissing leverage.

Can I just say, it doesn't matter?

Even if the bible is completely and utterly fabricated and complete rubbish, it inspires faith in millions of people throughout the world.

Whether it was written by someone who fancies themselves a great Fiction author, or whether it's actually true is completely irrelevant to me.

The faith and belief it inspires is true, so the actual fact or fiction part doesn't matter.

And that's from someone who doesn't hold any intense religious views, and has never really read the bible. I've read passages in RE, but nothing special. Probably read more of the Qu'ran then the bible..

God seems like a bit of a knob in the Old Testament. Possibly he was in his terrible twos and thought plagues and massacres and sacrifices were the way to go. Moses sounds like a rebellious teenager - smoking weed and burning his farts Rolling Eyes Really it just demonstrates that things havent changed much over the millenia

Revelations foretells everything that happens in the future....
Actually you read and take from it what you think you are reading.
I could write a book today and write in a roundabout way what will happen in the next 2000 years and the law of averages will have them come true.
It is very clever and convincing but nothing more than a parlour trick. Cool

yes in a just an fair world it doesn't matter whether the bible is true or not

but thats not the world we live in

sure the bible inpires faith and good morals in millions but there are always, as in most if not all religions that have relious scripture, those people who will twist it and use it to hate

and so i just cannot agree with you however much i would like to

My sentiments exactly Cat.

There are some that believe it to be true and decipher it to meet their own selfish ends regardless of whole nations that are maimed and killed along the way. This includes all religious texts, not just the topic at hand.

I find the satanic bible a far more interesting read.

But then I am not of any particular religion, and choose not to be for my own personal reasons, the first one being that like Christmas, Religion is nothing but a commercial whore.

But thats just me.

Hang on, you just said Christmas and religion are too.....oh soz you didnt mean *you* are a commercial whore?

I thinks its fair to say that religion has been used as an excuse/reason/backdrop for many a war in the past. That's not to say that it is the fault of religion, but rather the nutcases who twist it or misinterpret it in the first place. It is as open to abuse as anything else in society

Well now people are talking about Old and New Testament which is kind of like night and day. Old Testament is so big, so unwieldy and written ovver 1000s of years, even the Pope says that most of it are just fables to guide life not the literal truth. Only nutjob Creationists believe that!!And so many of these stories are also in other religions and they get changed slightly from one to the other. They are basically just stories to guide people, no more, no less. It's no different to any other story that is didactic in nature
