Those of you that say 'well i use the internet on my phone' well, bollocks to you too, because ITS A PHONE ! make phone calls on it !

Yes, i'm in a bit of a ranty mood tonight ! fortunately, i'm about 20 minutes off of going to bed.

The only time I think textspeak is acceptable is if pace is limited - and even then only if you run out of space typing normally. If that happens to me, and rewording fails, I would shorten as follows:

1. Remove the spaces after punctuation.
2. Change numbers to numerals (eight to 8 etc).
3. Start contracting longer words (tomorrow => tmrrow etc)
4. Change you to u.
5. Change to/too to 2.

I'm glad to say, though, that I rarely get past 2

If space was limited for a message i would probably just send them my email address or my phone number.

Changing things like two to 2 etc isn't as annoying as lyk dis, i see no need for it ?!

I hate it, if it is important enough for me to say it in text, I don't care how many spaces it uses. I will pay for 2 or 3. ( well i have a contract and over 5000 texts a month, that I never use)

People use it everywhere, even on my facebook. I just can not understand it most of the time and it is simply lazy!

I am with stu on this one, speak properly, if we were face to face and they mumbled something I would ask them to repeat it.
After 6 messages saying excuse me, they might have well used the extra message in the first place and made themselves clear!

No one I know uses it apart from my Mum - which is cute. She was in Ireland, and I texted her to say when she'd be back; she responded, she would be late because...

I know some people use text talk 'cos it's cheaper for them, like one text talk = 4 pages of unshorterned text.

I mostly use full words, but with some people we write text talk just for speed.

I can't see the point if people use text talk using the same amount of leters as the correctly spelt version.

I see my mobile more as a camera that happens to have a phone on it, but I use more features on mine than a lot of people do, so I guess it's a lovable gadget for me and replaces the need to have lots of other things in my bag.
I no longer need to carry around a camera, pen, diary, watch, calculator and quite a few other things that are useful.

So, I can go out with a tiny handbag and know that I've got what I need.
