03.09.2010, 17:44 quote
I'm pretty sure i'm not the only sober person in the UK who doesn't really find any fun in going to the pub.
So, this thread is all for us
I'm Niall, i'm from Lancaster, Lancashire.
Talk!

Well, I don't drink at all, and I don't pub nor club - ever. Gave that all up years ago as a complete waste of time, life, money, self respect, health and productivity. I find the activity, the environments, and what goes on surrounding it all one of the most boring, stinking and completely pointless self-harming exercises known to humanity. Legalised drug abuse, people childishly and stupidly running away from life into a bottle, making themselves look and sound like morons - regardless of the quantity or setting. Who wants to listen to a drunk - ever, or even pay attention to them? Who values what someone has to say if they've got any amount of booze in them? What an utterly ridiculous proposition. So... I don't date drinkers nor druggers ever, for I prefer to be with someone authentic all of the time, someone adult and responsible, example-setting, worthy of respect and self-respecting, and not a drug-altered version of themselves. I find drinkers soooo degrading - regardless of the quantity or frequency. And like is well known, there is never a justification for drinking - ever, merely an excuse and the desire to associate with other like-minded, feeble-charactered, excuse-making social cripples and other morally underdeveloped and intellectually degenerate types of addict. So yeah, after all of that goading to tease out the real hard-drinking readers worth avoiding in the dating game, welcome to the thread!!!!!!!!

WOW what a narrow minded man you really are! For someone that is clearly an intelligent man (yet rarely shows it, although though i wish you would) you really have no idea at all! I dont know where you used to go out or what experiences you had with drinkers, you really shouldnt tie all that under the same brush, or what ever the saying is!
People drink for various reasons and its their choice to, but to say going to a club or pub means they have no self respect and that they are social cripples is complete bullocks!
How does going to a club or pub or even drinking in the comfort of their own home make them that exactly? Maybe you need to get out more and see the real world instead of in your narrow minded eyes!!!
Yes their are people that abuse it and get in to fights ect, but that is the minority!
You rarely talk seriously and often take the piss out of peoples threads and problems and the one time you actually take something serious, you go and write even more crap than normal!!!!
I for one like to have a drink, dont do drugs, only ever tried a joint when i was younger, i didnt like it and would never smoke it again! I go out and have a drink, i binge drink, i hold my hands up, marry it i enjoy it! I suffer a major hangover the next day too and guess what ive been sick from alcohol plenty of times and no doubt made a complete fool of myself a million more times BUT ive met some of the best people from going to pubs and clubs, great friends! and if im stressed il have a vodka indoors BUT i guarantee i have better social skills than you and that i can look back and think you know what what i had a great life and so much fun!!!
I get everyone has their own opinions but yours is a load of shit tbh!!!!
Come back at me with your rubbish and pointless reply, you now just confirmed my opinion before was 100% correct!!
Thank you very much and have yourself a good evening!

There's nothing like pushing the buttons of an en-trenchant drinker for an emotional reaction is there! Thank-you for your utterly amazing contribution! xx
03.09.2010, 20:39 quote
Ha ha ha, cheers you two!!!
Is now a good time to point out that i'm a recovering chronic alcoholic?!!! lol
Thats why i started this thread! I say recovering, i've been clean just coming up to 3 and a half years now and obviously due to not drinking for that reason, i find being in pubs to not be a favorite pass time, so thats socially crippled me somewhat.
So yeah, i started this to see if there were people in the same boat as me

Hi Vin.
Yes, a good thread to have on here. It can help a lot of people, whether just for chat or for info. I'm still a facilitator at 2 centres on a voluntary basis, so I see the damage that it brings to lives, families and society in general on a massive scale.
Here's a couple of links to assist anyone who may be reconsidering their drinking or other habits, or who wants to know a little more about where to get information:

Thanks for the links, but i'm not after help in my recovery, I would just like a social life again!!!

Nothing better then sitting in a pub with nice pint of real ale. okay, some things are probably better and as good, but I like it
04.09.2010, 19:12 quote
It's dead easy to get a social life! Just do everything that you used to enjoy (sports, cinema, theatre, opera, shows, religion, restaurants, study, family, work, personal development, run a business, charity work, etc) and some brand new pursuits too - but just don't do them in pubs and clubs or with drunkies. Easy peasy really... and if you remember what it was like in primary school and what you used to do with your friends back then, before you ever began to drink, just do the same now and don't get arrested for it. Peeing through a neighbours letter-box isn't good, sober or drunk. But blowing things up can be brill... even shooting lessons need a steady hand, and they're cheap if you block-book...

I think you lot are all braindead except m1ssjb.
If you're going to reply to me, at least read what i've written. Doing srugs woiuld send me straight back to drinking again, any idiot with an ounce of intelligence can work that out. Do everything i uesed to? I was a CHRONIC alcoholic, all i did was drink!!!
I've been clean and sober for 3 and a half years, I would like to meet some like minded people. Its not that complicated!
Rant is now officially over.
04.09.2010, 22:54 quote

I'll give you a tip mate. Make better opening posts explaining what the thread is about in future. Especially if its something important to you. Often people just make replies to what is contained in the opening post.
Not sure how missJB's thread, makes her any less brain dead then the rest of us. Probably because she has a picture of a pretty lady up. No implication that it isnt her, because I'm sure it is
07.09.2010, 18:54 quote
There's nothing like the warm fuzzy feeling you get from a cider after a days work.
If one or two beers a week makes you a degenerate, then you're living in some naive and judgemental times.
But yeah Vinny, that was a little corny of a chat up line. "YOUS ALL BRAINDEADS CEPTS MISSJB" you could do better than that. Also, i dont know where you get off on having a pop at someone who tried to supply you links with helpful information. It isnt his fault your life sucked dick and you had to cover it with a bottle of vodka every day yet he still tried to help and you call him stupid for it? Nice start with your social life there nobend.
Oh also, a social life on the internet? and everyone else is brain-dead.........
