mine was a total wash out actually... a short story explains..

All i ever wanted from as far back as i can remember, was to be in the RAF. I was diagnosed with asthma a few days before my 9'th birthday and as soon as i found out that i couldn't join up because of it - i gave up on school, i went to 3 different high schools before finally getting booted out and ended up in home tuition, it was then i realised that i had f'ked up big time (aged 15) and it was too late to do anything about it, my gcse grades were shocking ( 4 x E grade in english, math and double science) although i'm actually pretty good at English and Math. so i guess i kinda shot myself in the foot really from a rather young age !

How old are you now Stu? I'm retraining for a new career at the age of 38, at 15 you had most of your life ahead of you. If I can better myself at 38 I'm sure you can at your age.

i'm currently 26 Moose.

since i left school i've also gained Nvq lvl 1 + 2 business admin and both Rtitb Reach and counterbalance forklifts licenses, although if i'm honest, i'd hardly use any of them as i'm more into manual labour / landscape work personally.

btw Good on you for retraining - mind if i ask what your retraining as ?

In infants/juniors, I worked hard, got the best grades, and was basically a teachers pet. Then I went to a senior school where the teachers loved picking on the shy kids, or those from the worst area, and as I was both my teachers literally destroyed me. I got 6 GCSE's, 1 AS-level and 1 A-level, but I could have achieved a lot more if I had actually received support from the people around me.

I've got a forklift licence as well, it's necessary in my job. But let's face it, you ain't ever gonna make any decent money driving a forklift in a poxy warehouse anyway.

I was an angel in primary school.. Laughing Laughing

Secondary school..was ok until I moved to another school when I was 14 - An all girls school Evil or Very Mad Hated it. So..started skipping it and so on.

Managed to get through my GCSE's, though. Got 7 A-C grades and 2 D's. Failed Maths, though (which isn't shocking, I'm crap at maths.)

Not bad to say I hardly went, eh?!

Went to college, got levels 1, 2 and 3 in ICT.

I wasn't too popular until highschool, but then I started bonding with the people in my classroom as well as 2 or 3 people who joined our classroom from others... So after graduating from highschool, we're still like a family of about 10 people who meet at least on a weekly basis, even if that means all 10 of us, or 3 or 5. Been knowing some of them since 1st grade and that's 17 years. So those are some pretty tight friendships... Very nice anyway... And always sure they'll be there for me when I'll need them most. Other than that... As I was saying, whenever you feel like it...
Going back to school days... Half of them were brilliant, half were boring... But highschool was pretty cool. Skipped lots of classes. Laughing

As for the studying, I used to get lots of bad grades and always an A for the final paper, cause that's the only thing I bothered studying for. Embarassed

In school ooooooo well ...... Primrary i concentreated very hard and got ok reports. Then secondary i totally screwed it up and wish i had tried harder as it pays off.

At the time u dont realise and think ooo have fun with mates, throw paper balls at the teachers heads AND actually enjoy getting into trouble for some reason lol Embarassed But i look back now and think "Cudda tried harder".

But anyways - college paid off with my achievement (Even tho i had nearly been thrown out of college too but i got what i wanted)

My end exams were down graded from o'level to cse, due to bunking. My fault really. I gained some qualifications since, like saftey&survival at sea, basic fire fighting skills sea and land, presently I'm back at school full time since January and finished excel intro and extended, busy with access end exam and following html at home. The studies are in my second language, dutch.

The body is developed by 23, the brain is developed by 28. The brain can be reproggrammed at any age,... the body goes in other directions.
