Yup. It should definitely be a national holiday. We've been doing a good job of eroding our national identity and feeling ashamed of being English over the past decade or so that its about time we started turning things around.

While we're at it we should ditch the Union Jack too, but thats one for another thread.

I'd be happy to celebrate St.Georges day provided it was done the old fashioned English way. ie, no commerce and street parties.

I've seen St.Georges day cards and all manner of crap in the shops. I'm sick of seeing every occasion made into a big fat commercial pound sign!!

I think it should be a holiday.

Celebrating St George's day is not a politcal statement. I love this country, as in the actual physical country. It is a beautiful place and I would love a day off work where I could make a point of enjoying it.
