Harvey - here my first car "Trabant 601 de Luxe" me and one of my oldest friends on the way to prom night...

Features of the car: gears at the steering-wheel, no display for petrol (when you ran out of petrol you just moved a lever and had another 50km to go)

I paid not even £200 for it in 1992 and the car was only 6 years old. It sadly died in in a car crash where a huge lorry kicked us out of the lane and I smashed into five parking cars and knocked over a lamp pole...

1965 MKI Cortina.

Started out life as a 1500 Super (still has the small rear quarter triangle logos) but at some point in it's life have been de-railed and taken to GT spec (badly). Swapped the wheezy 1500 for a 1600 x-flow, replaced the front legs, diff, brakes, drive shaft, wiring and interior....

So, there she stands, rolling restoration, well, daily driver, certainly not an amazing example, but I LOVE HER!!!! Ohhhhhhhh and she has been to Cortina, 2288mile round trip, not too shabby for a 40 plus year old!

I am still impressed, but it is Spandau which is in the North/West and probably not as posh as Lichterfelde (Zehlendorf)

Wie gesagt, ich bin alt u defect ..... schade, ge?

On topic, the oldest car I owned was a 1944 Volkswagen Beetle (Type 87*), but it caught fire going up Col du Galibier in France in 1994. I haven't even got a photo of it, unless there are some in a box of old slides I have (hey, it was before digital cameras were invented, ok? Very Happy )
